I bought this smaller version of the 5 LED Z-bar to use directly beside my computer. I was delighted with the larger 5 LED model bought several months ago, but I found it too large (and often too bright) for the two foot desk space beside my keyboard. This smaller 4 LED model is just right for task lighting at my normal work position. It lights up just the paper, not my PC display.

I've moved the 5 LED model to a work table where I spread fine-print documents over a 4-5 foot width. The 5 LED model covers that area very well, and I still use only the lowest setting.

These lamps are pricey, but in this case you get what you pay for.

I'm using this lamp as a dim reading lamp in my planetarium. It's perfect for the purpose. I can have it cast a horizontal line of light to read notes by. I added a strip of red and one of blue gel to dim it down to the level I need, and it fills the bill. The bottom two levels of brightness give me what I need. The easy adjustability allows me to position it for various needs at the console. The narrow elements don't take up valuable space, generally limited for small planetariums like mine. A bit pricy for most facilities, of course, but if you have some left in your budget at the end of the year, and don't have a good lamp now, consider this. A great find!

The lamp creates a soft white light that is sufficiently bright. It is very well made and can be configured in an infinite number of ways. Great seller; excellent communication and prompt shipping. Highly recommended.
