5.0 out of 5 stars Great KISS Footage! (4.5 stars)
This KISS DVD is an excellent purchase for the typical KISS fan. It features 2 discs, and exclusive live footage as well as some of their best music videos in the Xtreme Close-up.

3.0 out of 5 stars KISS still hasn't givin' us what we want, yet.
Where to begin. For 27 years now I've loved KISS. Old and new, well most of the new that is, I love KISS. As for this DVD, the best thing about it is that it's 2 videos in 1!

As for the contents. 1st off, X-Tream Close up. Why on earth did KISS release 3/4 of the video in "excerpt" form? This video would have been great if the full versions of the videos were...

5.0 out of 5 stars Great KISS Footage! (4.5 stars), February 5, 2005
This KISS DVD is an excellent purchase for the typical KISS fan. It features 2 discs, and exclusive live footage as well as some of their best music videos in the Xtreme Close-up.

The only notable flaw is that at times the quality isn't perfect in some of the live concert footage.

However, this doesn't take away from some of the classic live performances from KISS featured with and without the makeup. We also get to see Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley give their thoughts on the group and what direction it was going in.

Highlights:

Live Performances of: Deuce, Nothin' to lose, Heaven's on fire, 100,000 years and others.

Musics Videos: Sure know something, Hard Luck Woman and Lick it up.

Overall, this DVD belongs in any KISS fans' collection and you can buy at a bargain price here on AMAZON. So check it out.

Overall, this is a great, must-buy DVD for a KISS fan.

This video would have been great if the full versions of the videos were on there. It would be nice to have a professional copy of their great moments in KISSTORY without the "excerpt" versions. The Brazil show of '82 was a rare show with Vinnie and his makeup days. And why all the same concert clips, Detroit '75, New York '77 and Japan '78? All the official realeses contain footage from the same shows, just more footage. Give us something Ebay hasn't seen yet.
Then there is Konfidential. Again, the old Detroit '76 footage, Winterland show. Guys, pull out some skelatons we haven't seen yet. I know it's out there. The Gene goatee days are just par.
It's a good DVD overall but the "excerpts" will drive you crazy. No bonus footage or anything. A nice video compilation would really be great, and Gene it would sell too. $$

C'mon and pull out the vintage stuff guys, were dyin' here for some new "old" stuff.

5.0 out of 5 stars Kiss Is Alive!!!, December 7, 2004
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
First off...Konfidential & Extreme Close Up are on the same disc.
So this disc is quite a bargain!
when you put the disk in, the menu comes up with a Revenge/Animalize line up in silhouette .
you can chose between the two features.

Konfidental has its own song track listing
Extreme Close Up does not. so if you want to navigate the disk it's skip through track by track.

The sound on these is really great , the Alive 3 footage is kind of grainy, as was the video tape konfidential, but what is odd is that the older/classic footage looks better than the alive 3
film, im not sure if it is a stylistic choice, or if some one fell asleep at the wheel.

The Disk looks to be a straight up transfer from the Video Cassette releases, but if you haven't been playing your tapes,
because of their fragility, this is a suitable upgrade.
be warned ,,,

as i said these are pretty much the tape transfered from masters just to dvd.
No special features at all... a shame.
A bigger shame is that there is No legitimate release of any of these titles on dvd in the USA.

Gene, you really are missing this.... I probably wont buy too many KISS bowling Balls,
But I would probably join a Kiss DVD of the month club....

The sound is an upgrade over the video tape. at least to my ears.
and these disk are region free!, so they are able to play
in the USA!

as far as Amazon.com/canada.
Great job, I placed the order on Nov 27 2004 they gave me an estimate for delivery at about jan 9th...
It was shipped on Nov 30 2004,
thankfully it arrived today!

So two big thumbs up for Amazon...

I finally got these on dvd, now Im a happy camper!
after I look at the other disk I will let you know if I have any thoughts on the KISS My A** dvd

4.0 out of 5 stars 2 classic VHS releaes on one DVD, not bad, January 17, 2008
By
I had both these on VHS when they first came out on VHS.

"Extreme close up" is a kind alike a documentary you'd see on VH1, good mix of songs and clips with Paul, Gene and Bruce narrating the history of the band.

"Konfidental" is more of a tour soveiner of the Revenge tour with some classic make-up videos thrown in, much tho has been re-used in Kissology 3 for this one.

This DVD, as well as KiSS "Exposed" seems to be a transfer from the VHS but still decent tv and sound quality.

I got this DVD last week and I was disappointed to find no bonus features, but I am happy to finally have this on DVD. Otherwise, there is really no reason to buy this item if you already own the tapes.

the dvd is featuring two optionnal movies from the early 90`;konfidential wich is a shorter version of the alive 3 concert, and extreme close-up which follows the band `s carrer until 93.the first mode `konfidential` is folowing the guys on the alive 3 show when you see it its so great they perform like good as usual plus bruce kulick does a killer part on guitar.the show is great with funny backstage scenes and funny stuff.i would have liked it better if they included the full lenght alive 3 concert but that way is also good.the concert is awesome!

for the maniacs like myself there is a close up documentary who follows their carrer with cool videos( but unfortunatly short )like unholy and others as well as concerts video from japan and such it has a good description of their carrer until `93 the date it was made.they tell stories about most c.ds and includes ,any videos that are not the full version most of the albums until 93 are there exeption would be unmasked.the dvd is great but there are no special features or old release so it lacks new old things but that was the only thing so it deserves a 4star rate.

of course your opinion might be better or different than mine.good if you want a peak of the band.i got into KISS by watching these two dvds and i probably watched em for 50 times at least there really enjoyable and are a good value for 10 bucks here at amazon.recomended to all fans of KISS.this one looks well in the KISS video collection.

This review is from: Konfidential [VHS] (VHS Tape)
My biggest beef is that this video has dubbed the music from Alive III. The video performances are not necessarily the ones that were recorded for the album.

IMO, the only thing that saves this video are the clips from '75, '76, & '77.

4.0 out of 5 stars Kiss-'Konfidential & Xtreme Close Up'(Universal Music) DVD, April 22, 2005
Total of sixteen Kiss classics that no true fan should be without. Two discs that feature some really nice videos as well as live performance clips.Tunes I dug the most were "Deuce","100,000 Years","Hotter Than Hell","Domino" and "Lick It Up".Only downside is there are a few times when the quality isn't up to what it should be.Other than that,'Konfidential...' is a must-have.Enjoy!

3.0 out of 5 stars Fills in some of the missing spots in the KISSOLOGY series, August 25, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
When they both came out on VHS in the 90's these were about as good as you could get out of KISS. Now that the KISSOLOGY series has gone through 3 releases, & passed over this time period, It's good to have the "Konfidential" part, as a record of the Revenge era tour. Think of this release as a little bit of cement to slap the bricks of the KISSOLOGY series together with. Now if they'd just re-release the Unplugged DVD again.
