5.0 out of 5 stars The extra tracks are worth the extra bucks., May 19, 1999

This review is from: Kongos (+8 Bonus Tracks) (Audio CD)
The CD has three bonus tracks not on the other releases:

1. Tokoloshe Man (single version) -- quicker and more urgent sounding than the album version, with a strange Lol Coxhill (I think) clarinet (I think!) line running through it, also not on the album version. I don't believe this version was ever released in North America.

2. Would you follow me? -- The very hard to find b-side of Tokoloshe Man (most copies of the single had Tokoloshe on both sides) is a pleasant enough ballad. Desirable mostly because of its rarity.

3. Shamarack -- A wonderful, chanting single sort of like Tokoloshe Man. One of his best songs. Very hard to find and worth the cost of the CD by itself.

Another reason to get this version of the CD rather than the others: it follows the original packaging, with some added liner notes. The others have a redesigned package that is pretty lame.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sorry if you missed John Kongos, October 21, 1999
This review is from: Kongos (+8 Bonus Tracks) (Audio CD)
John Kongos has one of those voices that once you hear it you can't live without it.I had his albums in the 70's and had since worn them out.The minute I opened this cd and played it ,it all came back.I am so glad that these recordings have been re-released.Life is complete now and I am soreing on the Jubilee cloud.
