The Quikster just don't stop. Even when that cat has grey hair, he's still gonna be making bomb tracks. This compilation, of course, with 2 of Quik's closest homies and fellow MC's, Mausberg and Suga Free, is no different from Quik's other bangin' albums, and is on a postive party vibe(for all y'all wannabe gangsta's out there, this ain't for y'all cuz this is straight...

3.0 out of 5 stars Decent compilation - 3.5 stars
When hearing of this compilation I knew I had to get it, after hearing Mausberg's classic debut and how he tragically was murdered I figured I needed this CD even though I'm not really a fan of Suga Free. When hearing of this compilation I knew I had to get it, after hearing Mausberg's classic debut and how he tragically was murdered I figured I needed this CD even though I'm not really a fan of Suga Free. It is a pretty good album but I expected more. Mausberg is on 5 of 15 songs (as is DJ Quik) which disapppointed me a little, and Suga Free is on 6 of them, the 2 are only together on 1 song and there are 5 songs that have neither of the 2 on it, so the title is a little misleading. The production is great as usual on Quik handled projects. There is one classic song, and 3 or 4 that I skip, and another 5 that are ok. A good album to have for huge west coast fans.

#1 - 10 (Classic dirty song -- Hi-C & Xzibit w/ Quik on the talkbox -- great beat)
#2 - 9 (Mausberg & playa hamm)
#3 - 8 (mausberg & kam)
#4 - 7 (deep song by G.P.)
#5 - 7 (nice beat -- Suga Free)
#6 - 8 (DJ Quik & Hi-C -- also on the re-release of Hi-C's "Skanless")
#7 - 6 (suga free, dj quik, madd nation)
#8 - 7.5 (dj quik, suga free, playa hamm, Dubl-M)
#9 - 7.5 (mausberg)
#10 - 7.5 (dj quik & suga free)
#11 - 6.5 (another deep song by: G.P.)
#12 - 7.5 (suga free & mausberg)
#13 - 5 (madd nation)
#14 - 5.5 (suga free)
#15 - 8.5 (mausberg & squeek)

MAUSBERG -- J. Burns -- b. 1979 d. 7/4/00 -- Compton, CA
SUGA FREE -- Pomona, CA --- b. around 1969

The Quikster just don't stop. Even when that cat has grey hair, he's still gonna be making bomb tracks. This compilation, of course, with 2 of Quik's closest homies and fellow MC's, Mausberg and Suga Free, is no different from Quik's other bangin' albums, and is on a postive party vibe(for all y'all wannabe gangsta's out there, this ain't for y'all cuz this is straight playa/pimp feel good music, recognise!)I recommend this and any other Quik-produced track to anyone who feels hip-hop and keeps it real, cuz this is another era of hip-hop! Like the man Common says on his new album (be sure 2 check that as well), the 'jiggy shit is over.' In other words, the fake music: MC's that talk the talk but can't walk the walk. Hip hop is about lyrical creativity over a phat beat that's meant to inspire-get it right. And this album does just that- Suga Free will amaze some with his unique individual flow and with Mausberg's strong vocal presence, it can't get any better. Oh yeah,on a final note, for all y'all that feel the DJ Quik groove and dope rap skills, brace yourself for the launching of ISLAND FUNK,(a combination of Hip Hop, Funk, Soul, and Reggae) created by none other than MID-B and MELLOW-D of 'DoJa', the 2 young Mauritian MC's from Sydney. Give it 2 years and you'll know who we are. Peace. Keep it real/ no need to cap peel/ or grab the steel/, U know the deal/ make the lyrical kill/ stay chill/ inspire like Lauryn Hill/'get to the floor' like Johnny Gill/and if the skill is ill/ I guarantee U make the dollar, dollar bill....I'm out.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tip-Top, June 15, 2000

This album displayz the skillz of the most talented producer in the game(DJ Quik u foolz). Quik and his click showcase a variety of music 4 all walks of life. Quik has taken P-funk to a new level, with his wide range of beatz and soundz he displayz talent from the heart. Mausberg and Sugafree show their skillz on the microphone putting it down with other cats from the C.P.T, HI-C, Xzibit and Playahamm. This is an album 2 buy if u r a QUIK fan. I have recently been listening 2 some rap groups in Australia and I came across a group named 'Doja', they consist of 2 young rappers called Mellow-D and Mid-B they have a similar type flow 2 match DJ quiks positive party grooves be sure 2 hear more from these 2 as they r tearing it up. Splinter watch out. MIIIIIIIIDDDD-BEEEEEEEEEEEEE

5.0 out of 5 stars West Coast Funky Hip Hop forever!, May 27, 2008
This review is from: The Konnectid Project Vol.1 (Audio CD)
It's a shame that west coast hip hop like this album is not heard as much as it should be. Dj Quik is personally one of the best producers today, and I have even more respect for him considering he STILL will NOT sell out.

If you're a DJ Quik fan, like Suga Free [the musical style specifically], and love the funk, you will be FAR from disappointed with "The Konnectid Project." Here's to hoping brilliant music never dying out!

4.0 out of 5 stars I was impressed, October 1, 2000

Everyone that REALLY knows rap knows that Quik is a super producer. When he puts down beats for cats like Suga Free, Playa Hamm, Mausberg, etc... the album has to be tight. I knew that Suga Free was tight after I heard his solo joint. Mausberg really grabbed my ear on Quik's last two albums. I can't wait for his solo joint. Lately, people only bump the junk they hear on the radio or see a video to. If you wanna get away from that crap, bump this.
