From the Manufacturer
This telescope is powerful and attractive. The sleek Italian design makes it stand out from the rest. This telescope has an electronic motor allowing the user to track celestial objects at the same rate of speed they move across the sky, keeping the image in the viewfinder. The motor is not only a great feature to keep objects in field of view but also a necessity for astronomical photography (separate photo adapter required). The 114mm x 500mm KONUSMOTOR telescope comes with two professional style Plossl eyepieces for better viewing. A moon filter is also included with this telescope. Slow motion control cables are included for precise tracking of celestial objects when not using the motor. This short tube reflector telescope offers the versatility to easily transport the telescope, while providing 361% more light gathering ability than a standard 60mm telescope.
This Reflector (or Newtonian) telescope uses a mirror system, allowing it to view weaker, more difficult to view objects like nebulas and galaxies. This telescope also has an EQ mount, which offers precise 360° tracking along the same path an object moves across the sky. The sturdy metal tripod increases stability.
What does it all mean?
- 114mm x 500mm The first number refers to the size of the objective lens or the aperture of the telescope. Larger apertures provide a brighter image with greater resolution, especially in dim lighting or deep sky observation. The second number 500) refers to the focal length of the telescope or the distance the light travels from the lens to the focused image. Longer focal lengths provide more power through a variety of eyepieces.
- EQ Equatorial mount is a more flexible mount that allows the telescope to be adjusted to view 360 degrees enabling the user to easily follow something in the sky.
- Reflector This type of telescope uses the Newtonian mirror system. A concave mirror reflects light to the lens of the eyepiece to be magnified.
- Moon Filter A special filter that is attached to the eyepiece to reduce the brightness of the moon, allowing the observer to see more details.
