Kool G Rap- Greatest Hits,
This review is from: Kool G Rap - Greatest Hits (Audio CD)
Kool G Rap's "Greatest Hits" (2002) is an album to have. I missed G Rap's era and only really started listening to him with the Giancana Story, quality music speaks for itself and Kool G Rap is a legend. Guest appearances come from Nas and Freddie Foxxx, and the majority of tracks come from 1988-1992 period. "It's a Demo" (1986) strong starts things off and is followed up by "Rikers Island", a track where Kool G rap talks to the young thugs about crime and jail. Its a sick track, favourite part is the chorus which I first heard on a Noreaga album. Kool G Rap disses the girl he hates on "Truly Yours", an entertaining and funny track. Next couple tracks are decent, then Kool G Rap rips up "Road to Riches", a track where he talks about street life, drug dealing, murder, and his ambitions. "Streets of New York" is a similar equally ill cut where G Rap talks about ghetto life, backed by some addictive beats. Kool G Rap reps himself confidently and tears into wack MC's on "Money in the Bank" and "Bad to the Bone". The next tracks name speaks for itself "Ill Street Blues" is another excellent track. The albums last track's come from Kool G Raps 1995 album "4, 5, 6". "Fast Life" with Nas is a very memorable collabration, Queen's illest collabrate toghether on this gem delivering an outstanding track. Kool G Rap closes the album off with powerfully with "For Da Brothaz" a track about looking out for your boys which is also dedicated to those who have died. After listening to this I can how his music and style have influenced alot of MC's. Kool G Rap is an underappreciated rapper, highly recommend this release for the collection.

Kool G Rap is one of the most slept on emcees around. He was years ahead of his time and brought so much to the game. It's easy to see his influence everywhere on the hip-hop airwaves today. This CD is chock-full of great songs... not a single bad song on the disc.
1. It's a Demo - Classic Old School Party flavor 8/10 2. Rikers Island - High tension prison narrative 9/10 3. Truly Yours - Great Dis track... a big f u to "this girl [he] know[s]" 9/10 4. Butcher Shop - An Homage to DJ Polo 10/10 5. Talk Like Sex - bragging about his sexual prowess; hilarious! "Get a Grip on your headboard and hold on to it, or get sent right through it" 10/10 6. Poison - excellent speed battle rap 9/10 7. Road to the Riches - Street life in Queens 10/10 8. Streets of New York - More street life, Jazz style 9/10 9. Money in the Bank - f/ Freddie Foxxx, Anton, Large Professor - good posse cut 8/10 10. Bad to the Bone - Great high intensity beats; he's talking about his bling before blinging was even a concept in mainstream America. 10/10 11. Ill Street Blues - More street life with sick flows 10/10 12. Letters - "My rhymes are like a 9mm beretta / `Cause anything rappers can do yo I can do it better." This is a must have if you claim to be a true hip-hop fan. One of the greatest MC's and story tellers ever in rap, and one of the original innovatiors in hip hop, they pieced together some of G Rap's best songs from 1986 - 1995. 12 of the 14 are songs off his albums with DJ polo and the last 2 songs are from his 1995 "4,5,6" album. Of the 14, 3 are classics, 2 are almost classic, 2 are ok, and the other 5 are good. Production is great for the time most of the songs were released. Marley Marl does 6 songs, G Rap does 2 and co-produces 2 with Sir Jnx & Eric B. Tone & Poke, Buckwild, T-Ray, Large Professor all do 1 song. Amust have hip hop album featuring some of the greatest songs from the golden age of hip hop.
#1 - 8 #2 - 9.5 (great beat and story of prison life) #3 - 10 (CLASSIC! -- great stories) #4 - 8.5 #5 - 10 (CLASSIC!! -- great beat and a nice dirty song with some hilarious lines) #6 - 9 (another great beat by Marley) #7 - 8 #8 - 9.5 (nice beat -- about life on NY streets) #9 - 7.5 (f/ Large Professor, Freddie Foxxx, Anton) #10 - 7.5 #11 - 9 (another nice story of street life) #12 - 8 #13 - 10 (CLASSIC!! -- great beat -- f/ NAS) #14 - 8.5 Nathaniel Wilson -- Corona, Queens, NY -- b. 7/20 around 1968 Check all my reviews

KOOL G RAP is a must have in any collection,
This review is from: Kool G Rap - Greatest Hits (Audio CD)
I have all of G Raps albums, he is well known amongst other rappers even these commecial rappers. I think that anyone who appreciates good original raw rap music should buy not just this album but all of them, you will not be disappointed trust me.
I can even go out on a limb and say even those whom don't like rap should listen to his albums, their is a good chance they will be converted. His flow is unmatched, stories most of them true are artistically put on wax like none other. For all those people who listen to Pac, Biggy, Jay-z, Nas, Big PUN, Method Man etc...FYI G rap was their favorite rapper you do the math

Great old skool,
This review is from: Kool G Rap - Greatest Hits (Audio CD)
Kool G is an old skool N.Y. champ and always has been, the only reason I didn't give this a 5 is cause it doesn't have enough trax from 4,5,6 which is one of his best, that album really showed how he changed with the times and always stayed a step above the competition. Before and since the symphany with Big Daddy, Master Ace and Craig G, he's a rap legend whether you like his personal life or not.
He's the original gangster story telling rapper, definitely an inspiration for the late great PUN. If you love rap you need to hear Kool G Rap.

Karrine Steffans Baby Daddy,
By daradiant1 (Hartsville, South Carolina United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Kool G Rap - Greatest Hits (Audio CD)
As if yall don't know, Karrine Steffans aka "Superhead" baby daddy is none other than Kool G Rap aka 'Nathaniel Wilson'. I can not support his album for the simple fact he beat up Karrine and abandon his son Naiim! Yeah, I used to listen to his music until I read Karrine's book and if you look at the last picture where she and her son took together you can tell that damn fool had beat her ass!!!! I was in a domestic dispute before, but damn! I can't support this man, if someone is going to hit and nobody didn't hit his moms ( Rip Mrs. Wilson). So why rate his music when he did all of this and don't take care of himself? The reason I said it because this fool thought about a luscious lifestyle instead of his health. Kool have seizures folks! Instead of all that money he was spending he shoulda took care of himself a little better, instead of Karrine! Whoever read this review hit me an email at daradiant1@yahoo.com, peace.
