This looks like a simple tool for a simple job, and it is. Unfortunately sometimes something that should be simple (like mounting a tire) can be an exercise in patients and determination. I have a very hard bead on my indoor training tire that is next to impossible to mount without heating/soaking the rubber and pre-stretching the tire. This tool made it a piece of cake! It took a minute or so to get use to how far to move the tool each time so it wouldn't pinch the tube, but after that the tire went on faster than I could mount a normal beaded tire. The tool is very sturdy and I expect it to last a long time. Deff. worth having one of these to keep around in your shop.

First, I own many bicycles and was a bike mechanic so I've changed my share of tires. I sometimes have trouble mounting some brands/types but eventually I am able to get them with my bare hands. Those tires that have given me the most trouble are the following:

Panaracer 26x1.25 UrbanMax
Michelin 700x23 Speedium
Michelin 700x23 ProRace4 Endurance

All of these tires I mounted on Mavic brand rims. It is all I use. Nevertheless, it was very hard to get them on but I got them on eventually using my bare hands. I've used the following tires without any troubles ever:

Michelin 700x20 ProRace2
Michelin 700x23 ProLight2
Michelin 700x23 ProRace3
Michelin 700x30 Mud2
Panaracer 26x2.1 Fire XC
Continental 700x28 Contact
Continental 26x1.6 SportContact
Vitoria 700x25 Zaffiro

After having slain all these tires using my Herculean hands I figured... I could mount anything until I purchased a Continental 26.1.3 SportContact to go with my 1.6

I could not mount it. The bead would pop out somewhere else. Maybe it was because the wire bead was bend into a compressed shape when I received it but to no avail. Eventually, my hands were about to lose all their skin and bleed. I had lost. To this tire. I could not believe it. I tried all the tricks. Hair dryer to warm up and "expand" the tire, water on the bead as a lube, compressing the tire at the opposite end of the rim to get some extra slack. It would not mount on my Mavic. I gave up, and said... maybe I need a tool. A tool that would enhance my mere mortal hands. This item was it.

Now... before I tell you about the victory, using this tool alone I could not mount the tire. I had to use a bunch of zip ties put on both sides of the last bead to sit into the rim.

This gadget appears to be designed with road bikes and touring bikes in mind. It does not have enough clearance for fatter tires used on mountain bikes (2'' and above). Don't buy if you have a mountain bike.

This product is a must have for installing tires on rims, especially road bike tires. I purchased a set of Continental Grand Prix 4000s tires for my Shimano rims. After trying mightily to get the tire on the rim for literally hours with standard tire levers, I gave up. I picked up one of these online, and with amazing ease, I was able to seat the last part of the tire bead onto the rim. It was an absolute revelation. The only downside is that it is too long to fit into a saddle bag, so I end up having to carry it around in an extra water bottle. I hope they make one with a shorter handle some day. In any event, this tool is brilliant.

This tool did an amazing job of mounting a bike tire. Once. On the second tire, about 5 minutes after opening the package, the hook snapped off the end. There are better tools like this out there, I'd recommended paying a few dollars more and getting one made of metal, like the VAR Tyre tool.

I've been changing bike tires for 30 years now (OMG: it really has been that long), and it's always been a pain in the arse to get that final chunk of bead up and over the rim. You know how it is: you push and you push, but nothing happens; then you use your spoons/tire tools and end up pinching the tube. Well, these freaking things are SO MUCH BETTER. I easily was able to get even the tightest road-bike tube on the day this bead jack arrived. I love this freaking tool!

This tool is just what you need if you have difficulty installing tight-fitting tires. Mechanics who change a lot of tires will really appreciate the thumb-saving value of this tool. Hands down this is my favorite kool-stop product!

This is a very shoddy product. It broke in the very first moments of use, not ten seconds out of the package. With the slightest bit of leverage applied--the very nature of this tool's existence and design--the lip that is supposed to lift the bead over the rim snapped off.
