I purchased the Kooltron Battery Saver Model GJ1125 last august and have never regretted it. I use it in my Semi Tractor as sometimes it may sit for 3-5 days and has never run the battery down to far not to start my truck. Even in the winter which can be severe here in Idaho. One advantage I have over an auto is multi batteries. It never sits there and clicks on and off as in some other reviews. This may be due to a lot more amps. I am confident enough in this product that I am ordering one for my brother's b-day to use in his truck.

This box plugs in between your 12v lighter socket and any 12v device. The box monitors the voltage on the line and cuts the device off when the battery goes below 10 volts -- in hopes that there is still enough charge to start your car when you get back.

Not a bad idea, i've used one of these with my cooler for some time, also a 12v jumpstarter box with my cooler. This model is a little pricy IMHO

To the other reviewer who lighter socket was switched with the ignition key, i'd suggest you see a stereo shop and they can wire you up another socket that is on all the time, or you can find the parts and do it yourself.

My SUV has an always-on plug in the back, and I use it to plug in my Koolatron 12V Travel Cooler (D24).

But since it is always-on, I would need to unplug it when I stopped for any length of time to ensure my battery would not be drained.

This is where the Koolatron Battery Saver comes in. It plugs into my vehicles outlet, and then the cooler is plugged into it.

It will continue to provide power to my cooler until it detects that my battery is starting to lose power (around 11 volts) and then it will kill the power to the cooler.

Now I can just leave the cooler plugged in all the time, and I don't worry about running down my battery.

Great product, and works exactly as described for me.

A simple and essential device if you are going to be continuously running, unattended, any 12 volt device off your vehicle battery.

We have a '68 Ford Galaxie and when we tried to use the Koolatron P-85 with the battery saver in the Galaxie, the charging voltage is too low. When we turned on the car after coming out of the store the battery saver didn't restart. It works fine on newer cars with higher voltage.

it is a costly unit , should be part of the cooler. No control to handle, it nver stopped and did not work as expected.Overheated, had to stop using it and discard/

After draining my battery to the point of needing a jump twice (the only two times I've tried to use it), I can conclude that this product does not work as advertised.

I have only had this battery protecter for a few weeks but it appears to work perfectly.I have left the cooler running for at least 4 hr's without starting the car, the cooler was still running fine, the green light was still on and the car started with no hesitation. It's a winner
I did have to do some after market wireing on my Prius to get power to the back for the cooler. The battery is in the back right corner of the car so there was no problem in doing the wireing. I did install a 10 amp circuit breaker in the hot lead to the lighter socket.

This product does what it suppose to, shuts off connected accessories when battery voltage drops to 11v. Problem is that this is too low for most cars to start engine with. I have a 2010 mid size vehicle with good battery that hold charge in below freezing weather for weeks at the time. Engine will turn one time, lights go dim and that's as far as i got with this product. I followed instruction by connecting device awhile engine is running. I tried it two days in the row. Had to recharge my battery of course for second try. I really wish it would of worked. I wanted to use it with in-car 12v Wi-Fi EVDO router that i keept forgetting to unplug and it totally drains my battery overnight.

I drive a hybrid car and its battery is very valuable. This battery saver is worth its weight in gold as I do not want to lose my battery.
