As I unpacked the box it came in, I was taken aback by how shoddy the components of this bike are. The plastic parts are thin and flimsy. The seat and backrest are just thin vinyl stapled to soft wood. And I could bend some of the metal parts with just my hands.

Then, as I started assembling the bike, I discovered that some of its parts were broken. And they clearly weren't damaged during shipping because the things that were broken were internal elements that couldn't possibly have been damaged during shipping. Apparently, parts that had been broken during manufacture were still packaged for sale. I wonder if Koolatron has any quality control procedures at all?

I considered returning the bike for a refund, but the warranty that came with it stated that it could be returned only to Koolatron, not to the retailer, and they wouldn't pay for shipping. Since I'd have to pay to ship the 46.85 pounds it weighs, and by then my impression of Koolatron was that they might be so shady that they might never send me anything back, neither a refund nor a replacement, I decided to try to make the best of what I had.

So, after much time spent removing the broken parts that weren't absolutely necessary for the bike to operate and repairing the others with lots of duct tape, I did finally manage to assemble a functioning exercise bike from the junk I was sent.

It looks like the junk it is, and works only adequately, but I suppose that deserves one star.
