Like two previous Reviewers (one after I bought), the bug zapper has already failed. I ordered it on Jul 19, 09, and by Aug 19, 09 it had already failed. Considering shipping and time to connect, I got 20 to 25 days of service -- that's a $1 a day. To add insult to injury, the price has now dropped too.

Don't buy it, even at its new discounted price!!!

Do not buy this product. The only good review of it is clearly from a person who is LYING. They are probably the seller of it lying to make it seem better than it is.

Proof they are lying? Try searching anywhere on the net for what mosquitoes are attracted to. They are NOT attracted to UV like the person claims. There is no way the zapper could have done what they claimed it did.

Mosquitoes are NOT attracted to UV light, this is fairly common knowledge among those with slightly above average I.Q.s, and anyone who has turned on their TV to watch Discovery Channel.

"These traps are not effective at killing biting insects (female mosquitoes and other insects), being much more effective at attracting and killing other harmless and beneficial insects. A study over a summer found that 13,789 insects were killed, of which 31 were biting insects.[6] Mosquitoes are attracted to carbon dioxide and water vapor in the breath of mammals, not ultraviolet light."

i purchased this zapper in may 09..... it's july and it stop coming on, i purchased a new bulb and nothing now it sits near the trash can as i search the web for a new one............a waste of money.

It worked great for two months, and then didn't. I would not buy again. Tried to find a new bulb, but no one has them.

We used it for one evening and it died. Sending it back & hoping for one that works as it should.

I received my Koolatron FT 248 watt Electronic Bug Zapper took it out of the box and it failed to work. Now I must spend my time trying to convince Koolatron that the product is defective.

For me this bug zapper was a great little item. It was great cos it did what it was supposed to do and very quickly. It was great at attracting little flying insects and it zapped them very quickly. I was very happy with that part of it. However.. that's where the happiness ends and the nightmare begins!

1. It's very hard to find replacement bulbs for it.
2. The zapper has a very short life spam. Maybe 30 days or a few weeks longer if you're lucky!
3. Either the bulbs burn out fast or the electronic parts do.

I have two of these laying around that don't work anymore cos they burnt out. A third was sent back for a refund. I got refunds for the 1st two and the two different sellers told me not to even bother sending them back.

I had a moth problem to solve, the Bug Zapper Zapped the moths. Adding a little sugar stuff in the removable base did the trick. Well it worked for three months and died. Not even a new bulb could bring it back to life.

Today is October 3, 2010. This bug zapper quit working about two weeks ago. I bought it July 7, 2010, so I got about two months out of it. It was used on my screen porch so was not exposed to any adverse conditions.
Pay attention to the other similar reviews and do not buy this product!

i ORDER THE PRODUCT AND ONCE PLUGGED IN THE LIGHT NEVER CAME ON. i RETURNED THE ORIGINAL FOR A REPLACEMENT AND THE SECOND UNIT DID NOT LIGHT UP ONCE PLUGGED IN. sO, MY EXPERIENCE IS THAT THE PRODUCT ON TWO OCCASIONS NEVER WORKED.
