Koolatron P95 Review, Good product for the price, December 20, 2008
I was looking for a fridge/cooler for me when I travel and camp. I typically go for 2-7 night stays camping in very remote places. In the summer, ice does not last and its a pain. My review on this product has some mixed feelings about it.
Here are the pros:
Price, its pretty affordable for what you get.
Size, has plenty of room to stock for a 2-3 overnight trip.
Coldness, I keep cheese, milk, meat and many other items in this cooler and it stays cool without a problem.
Drain on battery, in keeping food cold you can expect it to have a fairly heavy draw of amps to your battery. I use a deep cell so it lasts much longer. I also use a solar panel that is rated for 15 amps charging. So this lasts me the entire 3 days of camping without having to charge my battery.
Weight, its fairly light weight.
Storage, there is plenty of room. After purchasing I found the company made one size larger and only charged $20 additional for it. I would have purchased it knowing. This one is rated for 72 12oz beverages. The bigger one holds 78. Not much difference, but it would make the difference to me of one extra nights stay.
Here is my negative report on the product:
There is no thermostat. So the unit runs non stop on electric or battery. Which means if you are on battery, it will continue to run and use amps, draining your battery. While on 110, it continues to run as well.
Insullation could be just a little bit better. This way the unit would stay colder, keeping food colder.
Report on company that sold it:
Pros; they shipped me the product in original package. No problems. Product was just as stated and worked fine.
Cons; be careful about shipping and understand it clearly. When they say usually ships within 2 business days, means you might not get the product for 2 weeks. I purchased it on a Sat night. They shipped it at the last pick up time from them on Tuesday night. So the product sat all night Tuesday and did not get shipped until Wed. The standard shipping took 10 days. So all together 10 days + 2 business days + 1 day wasted, I did not get the product in enough time for my trip I had planned. I also was a amazon prime, free 2 day shipping. Out of all the products I purchased this last year from Amazon, only 3 were prime and shipped for free. I must have purchased over 20 different items.
Overall I am really happy I purchased it. In looking at other units that are the same size, they range from $200-$1200 depending on what you get. I cant imagine adding a thermostat and some thicker insulation would cost much more to the company. I would buy another one if they made it with these additional features. Its a good product, works for me, just has a fairly heavy draw on DC power. I only run it on AC when cooling it 24 hours before a trip. This helps tremendously as the unit is empty and cooling prior to the trip. Instead of playing catch up with cold food and a warm cooler. I would highly recommend purchasing the AC that runs this unit.
Good luck!

Super Kooler, June 20, 2008
This review is from: Koolatron P95 Travel Saver Cooler 45-Quart, Light Grey (Lawn & Patio)
We received the Koolatron in a timely manner in good condition. It has proved to be more than worth it's cost. We are in the middle of an extended trip, using it as our refrigerator in car and hotel/motel/cabins. It is working flawlessly. Quiet, smooth operating over many continuous hours using the AC converter to plug in 110 outlets when not in the car. You can't get a better deal in our experience.
