4.0 out of 5 stars Very good coverage of the political aspects of the war, November 30, 1999
Very interesting coverage of MacArthur and Truman. Excellent sections on the diplomatic maneuvering by both sides, as well as the UN and keeping the alliance together.

My only regret is the book was rather light on the military operations, esp. after the Marines extracated themselves from Chosin.

Well worth reading.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, December 5, 1998
By A Customer
I found this book to be the most comprehensive recounting of the Korean War of the several that I read and yet it reads like a novel. Very engrossing and thought provoking.

4.0 out of 5 stars Korea: The Unmapped Story, May 18, 2004
I am two-thirds of the way through this book and have found it to be excellent (so far) in all but one regard: The paucity of maps is infuriating. While there are some maps (a handful), few of them show significant details which Goulden writes about. Time and again, I have had to resort to the few maps provided to try and guess where the action is taking place and where the armies and units are arrayed. Other than that, I have few criticisms to this point (but will reserve final judgment until I finish the book).
