5.0 out of 5 stars A "MUST READ" FOR AIR WAR OVER KOREA BUFFS, August 6, 2003
By
This review is from: Korean Air War (Motorbooks Classics) (Paperback)
NOTED AUTHORS ROBERT DORR AND WARREN THOMPSON HAVE COMBINED THEIR CONSIDERABLE EXPERTISE AND RESOURCES INTO THIS SUPERIOR ACCOUNT OF THE WAR IN THE AIR OVER KOREA DURING THE EARLY 1950`S. OF THE EIGHTEEN BOOKS I`VE READ ON THIS SUBJECT (MY HOBBY IS SPEAKING TO CIVIC CLUBS AND HISTORY CLASSES ON THE AIR WAR IN KOREA),THIS BOOK IS THE MOST COMPREHENSIVE IN COVERING ALL SERVICE BRANCHES AND AIRCRAFT INVOLVED IN KOREA, WITH THE EXCEPTION OF ROBERT FUTRELL`S 821 PAGE "UNITED STATES AIR FORCE IN KOREA." THOMPSON HAS INTERVIEWED MANY PARTICIPANTS IN THE KOREAN WAR AND BOTH AUTHORS HAVE INCLUDED MANY EXCELLENT PHOTOGRAPHS FROM THEIR EXTENSIVE COLLECTIONS. THE BOOK INCLUDES FOUR CHAPTERS, EACH BEING ONE YEAR OF THE KOREAN WAR YEARS. THIS STRICT CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER MAKES IT EASY FOR THE READER TO UNDERSTAND THE WAR AS IT HAPPENED. THIS IS A GREAT HISTORY BOOK.

4.0 out of 5 stars This book is best and great book-Korean Air War-Strictly adhered chronological order., April 8, 2009
This review is from: Korean Air War (Motorbooks Classics) (Paperback)

After reviewing this book, I was excited and impressed as "Living Dictionary"of Korean Air War,
1950~1953. As a amateur Historian, I have special interest and affection on field of general
Korean War. I coul'd become a American citizens and M.D.,after glorious battle of Chosin Reservior,
1st U.S. Marine Div. and Heungnam evacuation.
most comprehensiveness on covering evry kinds of military aircrafts which involved in Korean Air War.
my small regretts on this book are as followings:
1) most of photos come from personal archives of Korean Air War Veterans which decreased inattentive
many dramatic scnes.
2) some lack of emotional descritions due to strictly adhered mainly on chronogical History alone.
3) loss or lack of some important events such as--"Black Tuesday"--unthinkable B-29 loss on raid of
23,Oct.1951.
Now, I introduce my friend, Moon,Young Ki,M.D.Seoul,Korea. he is very enthusiastic amateur
military aviation researcher. he especially adore Warren Thompson and Robert F. Dorr
through many Osprey aviation books and Amazon. he is rare, valuable eyewitness of Korean Air War.
1) 1st dogfight in Korea on June27,1950 over Seoul sky: F-82G vs Yak-7U.
2) 1st apperance of F-80C jet fighter over Seoul sky on June,27,1950.
3) 1st apperance of B-26 formations over Seoul sky on June28,1950.
4) 1st bombing B-29 formations on Seoul railroad station on June28,1950.
5) a F7F-3N's strafing on Seoul railroad tunnel. date,unknown,1950.
6) a shot down scene of F4U-4 by comminust small arms. date unknown,1950.
Most of above evnts are corect compare with this book.
