If you're like me, tuning your guitar against a sound (tuning fork, piano, electronic tone) is difficult and time consuming becasue of my insensitive ear. This unit takes all the guesswork out. You turn it on, place it 6-18" away from the sound hole of your acoustic guitar, and pick each string individually. The tuner will automatically pick the key and string the sound is closest to, and then it's just a matter of centering the needle till the green light goes on. I've even done this successfully outdoors and in noisy rooms. If you own an electric guitar (which I don't) there's a jack in the side that you can plug your guitar directly into. From what I understand it will give you even more accurate tuning. It also has a bass guitar mode. The first thing I noticed about this when I got it was it's size. It's small, roughly the dimensions of a deck of cards but considerably thinner. It also weighs next to nothing. I keep it in my gig bag. My only complaint is tuning my guitar when I'm changing strings. If your tune is WAY off it won't even register, so you have to crank up and down till you get within range. It has a feature that will play a tone to get you in the ballpark, but I still find myself searching. Once strung and tuned, however, basic tuning takes all of 2 minutes. --Later addition-- Although I still think this tuner is excellent, I downloaded a guitar toolkit on my iPhone that is vastly superior. I doubt I'll be using my Korg tuner again. --Later addition #2-- I noticed these people are asking $42 plus shipping for this. That's ridiculous. I bought mine at Guitar Center for under $14.

Its put together a little cheap, but it works well. I like that it gives me a little range to know how close to tuned I am getting, rather than just showing if I'm there or not.
