Perfect urban sandal
on April 2, 2011
I wore Kork-Ease in the 1970s when they only came in an anemic tan color. Today's black-leather version has comfy padding underfoot and a suede-wrapped heel, two welcome upgrades. The good news is, they didn't change those nice thick straps that have an eternally cool, "downtown" look, gradually mold to your feet, and keep your feet securely in the shoe (unlike skinny-strap sandals that pinch and/or are too easy to step out of). The non-skid soles are apparently man-made but look and feel like rubber. This particular K-E style gives you a nice lift but is easy to walk in, a far cry from today's towering wedges. I'm always a size 5.5 and bought a size 6, which fits perfectly. So you might consider ordering up a half-size.
