I read a review about these somewhere -- New York Times? Airline magazine? -- and decided to try them out. Night and day from the standard Apple white earbuds. These lodge inside the ear (once you chose your right size from the three sizes of rubber covers), and block out most of the outside noise. Inside in a quiet room you hear details of your music you've never noticed before; in the gym, on the street or in the subway you can listen to your music without distractions. I have a set of the very expensive Bose noise-cancelling earphone which I'm going to leave behind next time I take a plane trip. Only gripe is that the cord is thinner and more kink-prone than Apple's ubiquitous white iTunes cord and has a cheap feel. If you've paid your $150+ for an iPod you should invest in a pair of these and hear all the music has to offer.

I purchased these after reading one of the previous reviews claiming they are a good step above the Apple. NOT TRUE!!!

First of all, they are very uncomfortable. The ipod earphones are like heaven compared to these. Even the cord itself. You cannot adjust the cord at all on these earphones. The left earphone has a really long cable and the right one is much shorter. They aren't even even.

Next, the sound. There is NO BASS. The original ipod phones gave much more bass. These sound like you're listening to your grandpa's old radio. There is virtually no bass.

STAY CLEAR OF THIS PRODUCT. I actually bought these at Walmart for $18. Complete waste of money. I'm using my standard earphones in the gym with the ipod.

I bought these headphones when my crappy, flimsy Sony's (they're like $7, but have pretty good sound) died. I got pink because that color was on sale. I got home, put on the smallest cushions and tried it out. Awful sound, in contrast to my Sony's. I would liken the quality to that of my laptop's speakers, which for $13, I wasn't too surprised or disappointed--you get what you pay for.

The best came later. I had used the headphones for maybe an hour the day I bought them, but woke up the next day with sores in my ears. I assumed there was something on the silicone covers, or my ears just weren't used to having in-ears (I've been using the wrap-around, kind of earbud type for years, this was my first time with in-ear), so I washed the covers in warm water with mild detergent and rinsed like crazy. I waited a few days for the irritation to subside, and then tried them out again, for a few days in a row in case it was caused by just having them in my ear, but the sores began oozing so I ceased immediately. It's been a week now and they are almost finished healing.

I am dissatisfied with this product because there is no mention of the potential for this occuring. Is it possible I have an allergy to it?--I have never had any reactions to silicone products before, and it FREAKS ME OUT that this gave me oozing sores IN MY EARS. That is like something in a nightmare. It's not Koss's fault I tried it again after the first time, but I was in denial that the headphones could cause that--I don't have senstive skin and the silicone on my other headphones didn't do anything.

I gave it the 2 rating only for the sound quality, as that is where it would rank for me in the scheme of things, the sores did not affect my rating. I just wanted to get it out there for potential people that this can happen, as I would have made a different purchase if I had known.
