I recently purchased a Sony portable CD player and was surprised how bad the headphones were that came with the player. Most CD portables are fairly low powered and don't have the power output required to drive many of the headphones available on the market to high volume levels and still acheive good quality sound. The result is usually muddy and maybe even slightly distorted, especially if the music being listened to contains heavy bass. Not with the KTXPro phones. I was impressed with the clarity and volume levels that they can produce with just a portable CD player that runs on two AA batteries. The bass response of these phones is quite good, and I have found that only a slight bass boost or maybe none at all yields pretty balanced sound. They are probably the best twenty dollar headphones I have ever heard.

I got these headphones for their price, I wasn't expecting so much, but i am amazed of the sound quality they have, a clear sound on all frequencies. You really can enjoy all kinds of music with these headphones.

These are great headphones. I especially like to use them at work. The sound quality is pretty good, but the best thing about these headphones is they fold up into a really small package. I also love the volume control on the cord. Very handy when the boss walks up and taps you on the shoulder!

I bought these to replace my malfunctioning (butStereophile-recommended) $35 Sony headphones, and I was hoping theymight sound as good. As it turns out, they are much better that myold Sonys, and compare reasonably well with my $100 reference phones. Mid through upper bass is strong but not overpowering, midrange neutral and treble rolled off only at the very top. The overall sound is warm, which is a welcome relief from the thin-sounding headphones you usually find at this price point. Comfort level is good, better than expected given the cost-conscious design.

I believe this is pretty much the best headphone out there for the 20$ price range. while this is the best headphone at its price range, if you are playing extremely strong bass, it will start 'scratching', this is not very noticeable but it would be better if it was different. the overall sound is very nice and compares rather well with the higher price headphones. if you do end up breaking this item koss's lifetime warranty will cover it so no need to buy headphones again and again.

fair price for the result, i am not really dissapointed. I think what i didn't like is that they are low on bass, and very high on treble. But it doesn't mean you can not enjoy listening to music with these headphones, unless you need a high bass frequency. Ok for an every day use.

These are warm sounding, poorly detailed headphones. The upper bass and lower midrange are quite pronounced. The upper treble is rolled off and the low level resolution is not very good. However, they are relatively transparent and at very high volumes possess a soft, open, somewhat detailed sound. It just isn't very good for your ears that way. At lower volumes, the KTX 4 is O.k. for the $10 you spend. Consider paying a couple of bucks more for the KTX 6, KTX Pro, or the SportaPro if you want some inexpensive headphones to replace the awful ones that come with portable CD players.

The Ktx/Pro doesn't have the slightly excessive bass of the SportaPro, or the slightly recessed midrange, either. However, the bass on the Ktx/Pro is overly tight and lacks bloom. The midrange seems to lack resolution, and the treble has a little bit of the "razorblade and needle syndrome" -- it's kind of sharp sounding. The SportaPro isn't perfect, but paying [slightly] more for them is a much better choice, in my opinion.

These things have great sound quality (in fact, better sound quality than my cd player... I've put the Kamelot's Fourth Legacy in my friend's player, and at the highest volume in my cd player the sound kind of crackles). The inline volume adjuster is great, and since it folds up it can easily fit in a drawer, backpack, even a large pocket. My only problem is, as someone else stated, the cord is a bit short, and not ideal for listening to anything except a cd player on your person or a computer which is close to you, although I've never seen a pair of headphones which didn't have this problem (but I haven't had a lot)

I needed a replacement for my Sony walkman and saw these on Amazon. Believe me these are the best headphones that I have ever purchased. The sound that you get is like being in a concert hall.
