4.0 out of 5 stars Good Sound for your buck
I bought these headphones and was pleasantly surprised. They are very comfortable and the sound quality was better than you would think given the price. The cord is a little long for portables, but can easily be tied up. The extra earbuds that come with it, are a nice bonus, but their sound quality pales by comparison.

2.0 out of 5 stars Design defect in the cable plug, February 16, 2007
This review is from: Koss UR15C Home Headphones with Earbuds and Case (Electronics)
After having two sets of these headphones lose the sound in one channel I undertook to find out what was wrong. After a bit of dissecting I found that the problem is a defective design where the wires inside the cable attach to the stereo plug. Even though externally there appears to be a good strain relief at the plug this strain relief is apparently hot molded to the tiny internal wires. This molding process fixes the tiny wires to the internal wall of the strain relief and does not allow the wires to move when the headphone cable is pulled in normal usage. Since these internal wires cannot move inside the strain relief, the entire stress of the normal usage pulling is transferred directly to the solder joint where the tiny internal wires attach to the stereo plug. After a short while the internal wire breaks at the solder joint thus losing that channel.

This is a problem that cannot be easily fixed. If you have these headphones you should take special care to avoid pulling or stressing the cable near the stereo plug. Or maybe just do not go there in the first place...

save your bucks from this poor quality product. I bought it @ walmart and one side couldn't work just after one month of use. I would recommend on sony or panasonic.

After using it for 15 mins, there was no sound from the left side of the headphones.
Moral of the story: Delicate and unreliable

5.0 out of 5 stars Pretty satisfied., December 2, 2008
This review is from: Koss UR15C Home Headphones with Earbuds and Case (Electronics)
I've had these headphones for at least 2 years now, and they're still the best I've ever worn. I haven't even had a faulty cord yet, whereas I've experienced "fuzz" problems using Logitech, Labtec, and Sony products. The bass quality is ideal for electronic music and is very easily on par with the beloved Klipsch Promedia speakers.

Be prepared for sweaty ears after extended use.

3.0 out of 5 stars Inexpensive. Decent if you get a good pair., May 3, 2008
This review is from: Koss UR15C Home Headphones with Earbuds and Case (Electronics)
Well, figured I would review these. Recently I made the investment for a much better set of headphones ($200), and since I had been using these previously as my only pair of circumaural headphones, I thought to review them.

They sound decent, if you haven't experienced a higher end pair of headphones then you will be pleased with their sound. For $10-20 you shouldn't expect too much. But this is only because I now have a basis for comparison against a much better pair.

The bass is pretty good on these actually. The low end sounds good. The mids and highs are kind of muffled and mixed together. But there is still enough seperation to hear an alright range of sound.

They are very light, which is a plus. They are comfortable to wear for many hours. The wire is pretty thin, so there is some danger of it being severed, but they have been sturdy for me. I have had a rocking style gaming chair run over the cord many times and they are fine. I've accidentally brought my hand down in between the wires connecting the earcups (done this several times actually)... and despite you being able to hear it VERY LOUDLY since it's connected right to your ears, the cables were fine and sound still comes out of both earcups. (This is one thing I would change about these, is to have the cable come out of only one side.)

The ear padding is soft, but it doesn't really press against your head. These don't give you much attenuation of outside noise, but they do provide some.

I've dropped and kicked these accidentally, they are pretty durable. If you just want something cheap and comfortable to wear, then these will do the job. But if you really want great sound you honestly do need to spend a bit more. This is something I always read and never really took it to heart. But it's true, a good pair of headphones can really change the way your music sounds.

These aren't getting a 3/5 for sound alone, otherwise it would be lower, but because of value for what you get. For not a lot of money you get a suitable set of headphones.

But I liked these guys here, they served me well. I think I'll pass them on to a friend, since they've been a friend to me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Long cord..., June 29, 2006
This review is from: Koss UR15C Home Headphones with Earbuds and Case (Electronics)
The long cord make these headphones perfect for people who user them with a computer. Bass response could be better but the mid-range and good highs make up for this. The muffs on the headphones do a good job of both soothing the ears and keeping out office sounds.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not Reliable, April 2, 2006
This review is from: Koss UR15C Home Headphones with Earbuds and Case (Electronics)
I bought these headphones last year. Since then I've sent them to Koss twice for a replacement. Both times within 3 months of use one side of the headphones goes dead. I will not bother sending them in again and they are not worth $20 at all.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Value Headphones; Highly Recommend, August 28, 2005
This review is from: Koss UR15C Home Headphones with Earbuds and Case (Electronics)
Great Aspects:

For the price (less than $10 at K-Mart), this Koss headphone set is good value. Sound quality is good and can handle very high and very low volumes. The headphones fit well and are comfortable to wear and there's plenty of cord. I've had these headphones for quite some time and have experienced no problems.

Downside:

Don't expect awe-inspiring acoustics or deep bass sounds. These aren't high-end headphones.

Summary:

For somebody who wants a decent pair of headphones that work well, this is the way to go. The price is very good if you shop around.
Highly Recommend.

2.0 out of 5 stars A decent headset for the non-loud user., July 12, 2003
By
This review is from: Koss UR15C Home Headphones with Earbuds and Case (Electronics)
Let me point out one thing before you read my review. When you read a review you have to know what type of person the reviewer is in relation to what type of person you are. Im a gamer, so I need to hear every little detail to know where the enemy is at or what he is doing. I also need a headset that blocks out outside interference so I have 100% concentration on what im doing (and believe me, it really helps your game).

First let me start off by saying that the headband doesnt press up against your ears. This is bad because when its not pressing up against your ears your allowing for more outside interference get into your headsets and into your ears breaking your concentration. When you have less outside interference you find that its easier to concentrate on what your doing. Also the volume level is decreased along with detailed sound. But it is very comfterable to wear, not heavy at all, and the head-size adjusters work awsome.

On this headset you really cant turn the volume up that loud without it distorting (the bass especially distorts badly although the treble rarely distorts if at all). But when you dont turn the volume up that loud it delivers pretty decent sound quality.

The wire is really thin making it easier to break/cut into. Due to the wire being thin, when you fondle/mess with the wire it distorts. Also sometimes when you move your body it distorts.

I had this headset for exactly a month and in about half way through that month my left speaker wasnt as loud as my right. It happened when I was listening to music. So I had to comprimise by using software to re-balance the amount of volume that went into each speaker. When I did this my overall sound wasnt as loud as it was before. That made me pretty mad.

If you really want to get your moneys worth, go buy a 30 dollar pair Koss ur-29. But at amazon you can get them alot cheaper. Read my Other review on that headset on amazon, just type in the search engine "Koss ur-29".
