When my kids were growing up there were no Dr. Seuss books in Russian. I am glad that my grand-daughter can enjoy the pictures and hear the Russian speech read to her. We need more children's Russian books.

Translation is just OK,

My 4 y.o. daughter is absolutely in love with this book! The rhymes are catchy and easy enough for her to read on her own.
However I found that lots of jokes (or better to say that Dr Seusss' original style) were lost during translation. Many attempts to keep up with that style led to the fact that the interpreter had to use obsolete words (to be completely honest the "opahalo" cracks my daughter up). Overall I would buy this book again in the absence of the one with a better translation. If it's funny enough for my 4 y.o. that's the money well spent. |
