4.0 out of 5 stars Cute, sturdy, but not exactly secure.
I ordered this for my fiancee, and neither of us really have any major problems with it. The box is sturdy, the paint doesn't seem likely to chip or scratch off easily, and the compact size fits easily into a lunch bag. The only minor complaint is that the top of the box fits loosely onto the base. The lid for the internal compartment fits snugly, so that's not a...

3.0 out of 5 stars Bento Food Storage Box
I was so excited to get my Bento Food-Storage box. The quality of the illustration on the front was beautiful. The problem is that it wasn't big enough to store any type of food. It also came apart and it was difficult to put together with food in it. I thought it would be a great alternative to a lunch bag. However it just didn't work for me.

I ordered this for my fiancee, and neither of us really have any major problems with it. The box is sturdy, the paint doesn't seem likely to chip or scratch off easily, and the compact size fits easily into a lunch bag. The only minor complaint is that the top of the box fits loosely onto the base. The lid for the internal compartment fits snugly, so that's not a concern. However, it's actually necessary to tie a string around the bento (tape would work, too, but I prefer string) just to keep it from opening up while being transported.

bought this for my wife, and she is very happy with it. it's designed well for people with tiny kitchens, yet there's enough room inside for an american sized lunch.

An elegantly simple 2-tiered bento box. The top tier can be reversed to pack down into the lower one to save space. Microwaveable.

But what decided me on this particular bento box was the owl design - simple, and adorable!

It was shipped quickly and arrived in perfect condition.

Super cute, smaller than I expected, but fits more than enough food for my daughter's lunch.
We love it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Completely Worth It!, February 18, 2011
This review is from: Kotobuki 280-131 2-Tier Bento Food-Storage Box, Burgundy Owl and Moon (Kitchen)
Hey parents! This is great! My mom just got my sister and I a bento boxes. :D its small, great for a quick lunch and gets my sister into eating healthy meals. Very simple, easy to clean, the packaging is in japanese but its very simple to follow. I got the owl one and my sister got the blue rabbit one. The blue rabbit one is shiny! However, this one looks more mature since im in high school and heading to college in a few months :3

4.0 out of 5 stars Simple, perfectly Adult-Sized Bento, April 27, 2011

I would rate this box 5 stars if it came with a bento band - the piece of elastic to keep the lid on snug. It really does need one. Fortunately, the band from another box I ordered on Amazon, Urara Red Rabbit 2 Tier Japanese Bento Box, came with a band and happens to fit this box perfectly.

I love that I can fit my whole lunch in this box and not fight for space in the overcrowded fridge at work (when I bring items that must be kept cold) - it fits in the fridge's butter compartment, the only space that is always empty!

Both tiers of the box are tall enough to use ordinary foil muffin liners to separate foods.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a wonderful Bento Box, but where's the elastic band?, November 18, 2010

This bento box came in perfect condition, but it is missing it's elastic band that was said in the 'product features'. I would like to have the elastic band as promised since I'm scared the bento box will open itself up and my food will spill when I'm working. Other than that, the size is very good and the product came in a timely fashion. Free shipping is a plus as well.

I've been happy with this product so far. I pack the bottom completely full with white rice, then put some sort of stew-like food in the top compartment, and then I mix them as I eat.

To secure it, I wrap a normal rubber band around the long end, and I slide a Hoover 40201160 vacuum cleaner belt around the shorter end. It's the perfect size, and keeps the lid tight and snug.

4.0 out of 5 stars a great purchase, October 11, 2011

well first with the features on this box, yes is very small but easily fit a lunch for 1-2 people, I have packed a lunch for my mama and me, we both work at the same place) on this little guy and no we don't have tiny stomachs. if you read up on how to make bento lunches, the key on this is a little of everything on bite sizes. So I had my main course side dish and dessert on this little guy for 2. the design is simple but cute, definitely more mature then getting hello kitty. you can easily make it one tier by not using the second one, if using liquids be aware that only the inside tier has a lid and the bento doesn't have a elastic to hold it close so if you are going with your lunch on rush hour on the subway or bus, (you know hell) if it shakes too much your bento will end up a mess. BE AWARE! the bento box is microwavable but! do not use the lid from the inside tier it will NEVER close tightly again, DO NOT use the dishwasher if you want to keep the design, the box itself is very sturdy but if you choose this road remember that the pressure the dishwasher creates eventually will give wear and tear to it and eventually chip or break. pretty much you can be as mean as you like to and this little guy keeps on going. I bought one years ago, made the mistakes mention, but I learned my lesson and this time I have bought 2! The only reason why it doesn't get the 5 stars is the elastic band
