Boba Fett comes in a fairly large black box with his likeness on the cover. It opens up to a pre-painted set of pieces that you have to assemble, but it is extremely simple to put together. If you can't put a peg into a hole, then you're out of luck. Keep in mind there are two different sets of arms - one for a shooting 'action' pose, and the other with his gun down. Also he has some Wookiee braids/hair that go around the arm, you'll want to put these on first, then pop the arm on carefully.
The design is unbelievable. I don't know who paints these things, but they deserve recognition. I spent a while just staring at each piece - it truly is a work of art. Everything is painted perfectly; I couldn't find one mistake. Fett comes full of scratches, blemishes, dirt and dust, wear and tear, bullet marks, you name it. It's all there. His Mandalorian insignia sits on his arm, crisp and clear. Everything from his foot spikes to his flamethrower are painted and shown in great detail. Even his antenna moves down in front of his visor! For the Star Wars fan, its a great piece to own and show off, because people will just continuously stare at this thing. The best part is the magnetic stand allows you to move him around, or even take him off to show around.
I will say that I did buy him at a discount (Amazon had him for $20 at the time) but he is easily a steal at regular price. You could say you bought him for $100 and people would believe you. This is some quality craftsmanship, and I am definitely a Kotobukiya fan now. Can't wait to get more of these!
It is very well built and the details are incredible for a semi-mass-produced figurine. However, note this is not your regular action figure, it doesn't move. You get the statue's parts (head, torso, cape, arms and legs) and assemble them together with a snap-on system.
The cape is also made of soft vinyl simulating the texture of fabric. This is very well achieved by the artists. The figure set comes with 2 left arms, one allows you to set Darth Vader on his "looking out" stance with both hands by the belt and the other one is pointing forward with its index finger for a threatening pose.
Also, the set comes with a metallic base that allows you to set the figure anywhere while keeping it standing very stable using the magnets embedded in the statue's feet.
I recommend this figure for Star Wars fans, geeks, collectors and specially Darth Vader's.
Comes in a sturdy black box surrounded with pictures of Vader in various profile shots and a brief character bio with more photos on the back including a photo from the Cloud City scene of TESB.
There is a bit of assembly required but the model comes with a simple instruction sheet.
All the pieces were individually wrapped in small plastic bags and each seated in their own cavity which was then sealed in a thin plastic casing for protection.
Parts included are;
- x1 Instruction sheet (Eng)
- x1 Torso
- x1 Legs
- x3 Arms, two in belt clasping position and one (the left arm) finger pointing pose
- x1 Head with helmet (articulate from the neck)
- x1 Magnetic base (width 4½ inches and depth of 4½ inches) same as included in this line of SW statues I guess
- x1 Grilled platform, in the shape of a section of the circular grilled metal floor (the scene where "Solo" is lowered into the carbon freeze chamber on Cloud City) in Episode V The Empire Strikes Back.
This base is NOT magnetic, but there are two small pegs that work as anchors to help stand the Darth Vader and Boba Fett statues up, with the inclusion of the metal inserts under their feet that work with the magnetic base, each statue also has a mounting hole below their left foot that works with this base.
This platform is also a little thicker and wider than the magnetic base at roughly ½ inch thick, 8½ inches wide and 4½ inches deep.Read more ›
I found this figure because I wanted a Darth Vader figure in a non-action pose. In my opinion it's a perfect figure. The pose is ominous and brooding which is what Darth Vader is. He's not an action hero, he's a presence. I'm no Star Wars fanatic, and maybe some of them can find some small discrepancy, but to my eye, the details are spot-on. The signature Kotobukiya magnetic base is another of my favourite aspects. It might not hold the figure as well as the peg base that he comes with, but it's just classier. What more is there to say? Great figure, great craftsmanship, great company.
The only thing negative I have to say about this figure is that you have to put him together unlike most other Kotobukiyas. Not a big deal, but I've got to complain about something. His head, legs, arms, and cape all have to be put on his torso. That said, I would be a little careful not to break the peg that his head goes on as it is a little thin. If you're not REALLY rough with it I wouldn't worry about it, though.

Good looking statue with several posing options. I have stuck with the aiming down sight configuration.
