This is really miscategorized. It is not a toy, it is a rigid statue. There's no way to play with it and I personally wouldn't buy it for a child considering its fragile nature. The sculpt on this statue is really excellent. It captures Iron Man's character very well. It has very cool LED lights in the chest piece, the palms, the eyes and the base that make this a really cool sight to see. If you're in the mood for a great statue to spruce up your living space, this is a complete steal at the price Amazon has it for, but if you're looking for an Iron Man toy to play with you should look elsewhere.

This thing is badass, completely exceeds my expectations. It is plastic but it has a very nice weight to it that would make you think otherwise, also, this thing is huge compared to what I was expecting. It will not fit on any of the shelves I planned on putting it on but this is a good thing, bigger the better! The base is of a cheaper plastic but looks fine and both it and the body lights are very impressive and complete the look. You will not be dissapointed unless you dont understand awesome!!!

I got this for my husband on his birthday. He loved it. A lot of the reviews said it was cheap plastic, so that's sort of what we were expecting, but it wasn't really that cheap feeling. He loves it. Lighting it up is really cool to, His hand, chest and eyes light up. Very cool!

Excellent details, my son loved it, so did I. If you are a collector, i highly recommend this figure to be added into your collection.

I only have two issues with this Iron Man figure. The first is a minor one. The LED in the figure's chest IMO is too bright. Second, and more importantly, the separate switch to turn on the LEDs in the hands, chest and eyes are a poor design. It would have been easy to place a power connector in one of the statue's feet so that the switch in the base could not only light the base but the figure as well. Having to remove a panel on the figure's back to access the figure's switch is a PITA. Other than that I love this thing.

Overall a fine piece. Unfortunately, I am returning mine, as the right palm doesn't light up. I'll update this review once I receive the replacement.

I wasn't surprised by the material used. It's actually stronger that the fine art polystone version and less likely to break if an accident occurs. It looks fantastic, and I doubt if anyone can tell the difference by just looking at it. As others have reported, the base doesn't look as good as the figure. But it is acceptable.

Note: Opening the compartment to insert the batteries for the statue's light can be scary. The instructions aren't very clear. The piece (back left shoulder area simply pulls off. It's a tight fit, but don't worry, just lift it off to gain access. No hinge, just lift.

UPDATE: The replacement statue came in and everything works perfectly. I guess I was just unlucky the first time. The return process when smooth too.

I like how realistic the statue looks - colors are perfect, don't let the other reviews fool you. The pedestal looks a bit cheap, though.

I've been wanting to add an Iron Man statue to my collection for a while now. I debated between this piece and the upcoming Extremis Iron Man from Bowen, but once Amazon dropped the price on this it seemed like an easy decision.

First the good - it's a very detailed, full-bodied statue that seems very accurate to the movie. The color scheme on the old Mark III version never looked right to me, but here Kotobukiya seems to have improved with the Mark IV. The light-up feature is pretty cool, and surprisingly bright.

And the bad - knowing that this was being called a statue, I assumed it would be made out of polystone or a similar hard material. Instead it's made from PVC. I guess this is just standard practice for Koto and most Asian manufacturers. The material doesn't really affect the look of the statue, but if you hold it it definitely feels less like a statue and more like a high-end action figure. The display base is particularly cheap and plastic-y, and there the choice of material really does detract from the overall look.

The bottom line is that this is a good buy for the price. $70 isn't too much to ask for a 12-inch, movie-quality display piece, even if it isn't made out of the most durable materials possible. I just wouldn't recommend paying full price. And if cost is of no concern, I'd suggest looking at some of Sideshow's product or the Hot Toys figures beforehand.

Great detail on this guy! Base lights up which is cool. However the coolest feature is having the hands eyes and chest light up. Looks awesome! was easy to put together and the paint job is very nice. If you like Iron Man then you should get it.

I collect a variety of statues and this was my first Kotobukiya purchase. I give them a BIG thumbs up for the incredible job they did on this item! Putting it together was easy even though the arms needed a little extra effort to fit them onto the torso,just be careful not to press hard on any protruding pieces when pushing the arms on considering the material its made of. Also I had to slightly stretch the legs so the feet fit on the stand properly. Besides that I was amazed at the detail! Mine had a great paint job which really does have a metallic/iron looking finish and once all the batteries are in place and you switch on the illuminated features prepare to be shocked at how GREAT this piece really looks. I've wanted an Iron Man statue since seeing the first movie and I'm glad I found this one.
