5.0 out of 5 stars Who do ya'll think you're talkin about?
Now I havn't been a KMK fan since day one and I don't consider myself a hardcore KMK head or anything like that, but I do own all their CD's and although not all of their songs appeal to me, I still think they're one badass group. To all these so called KMK fans sayin that this CD isn't something they'd expect KMK to put out I hafta say one thing, what the hell are ya'll...

3.0 out of 5 stars Going....going.....gone?
I own every KMK cd and I can honestly say that the quality of every one of their releases has gone downhill since Royal Highness and their best High Society. Hidden Stash was good and Rolling Stoned was a little different from the norm but it was still a good album; but still a downgrade from the aforementioned. Then Fire it up came out. Horrible cd. I probably listened...

This is just what I'd expect when I'd pick up a new KMK album and in my opinion this album is badass. So to all the "hardcore KMK heads" that say this is garbage, I stick my middle finger in your face cause ya'll don't know what the hell ya'll are talkin about. Keep doin ya'lls thang KMK, this album f'n owned.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Life's Lesson, October 27, 2005
This review is from: Kottonmouth Kings No. 7 (Audio CD)
Some people just do not react well to change. I think this is the case in the people that put down this CD. I've been a huge KMK fan since my friend turned me on to it 5 years ago, and I will agree that they are not the same band that they were. Their sound is a lot cleaner now, it sounds a lot less like it was produced in a garage. And maybe, in effect, they lose some underground charm. Let's face it - the Kings are big time now, collaborating with Cypress Hill and Tech Nine. And they are here to stay. But rather than trying to hit it mainstream, I think this CD is the biggest step of maturity the band has ever taken. If you absorb the lyrics, nothing has changed in the Kings beliefs - still potheads, still freedom fighters, still anarchists, still counterculture. They have better party music with songs like King Klick, and Make it Hot (Anyone who's heard it will jam out to `Take a Bath' when they're smashed). They keep their punk rock roots with songs like Revolution (powerful song) and Slow Suicide. The track they did with Tech Nine flows great and keeps true to the KMK cult belief (and the Cypress Hill song is a nice old school track). And back on the subject of mainstream, what is wrong with the Kings having a good radio hit? Could turn some people onto the KMK lifestyle. Look, all I'm saying is that before dismissing this CD, and dismissing the style of music that KMK has turned to, look at the CD as a change in maturity instead of a push to go mainstream, because in the end, do you think the Kings expect MTV to be supportive of a band with a CD that says screw the industry, screw the government, smoke this blunt and hit this nitrous tank?

5.0 out of 5 stars Another classic from the Kings!, June 2, 2005

When i first heard Daddy X say that the self titled album was going to be the defining work of the Kottonmouth Kings` career last fall, i thought that he was crazy and probably smoke too much weed. However after listening to the new album about 3 or 4 times, the Kings more than delivered. This album is without a doubt one of the Kings` best albums. It definitely blows Fire It Up, which i think is a very good album, away. DJ Bobby B did a great job with the beats, which will start an earthquake with all the bass on there. The production by Kumagi and X is very impressive. I really like that elements from Kingspade and Organic Soul were put to great use on the album. As for the guest spots with Tech N9ne and Cypress Hill on F.T.I.2 and Put It Down, they were excellent, especially Tech N9ne. Favorite songs: Put It Down, F.T.I.2, Watch Your Back, Let The Sunshine, Piece Of Mind, and Take A Bath. If you don`t have this album, then i highly recommend that everyone get it, because it`s too damn good to sleep on.

4.0 out of 5 stars Kottonmouth Kings No. 7, November 10, 2005
This review is from: Kottonmouth Kings No. 7 (Audio CD)
The kottonmouth kings come out with their seventh installment in the KMK-Saga. Promoting their lifestlye(smokin pot, freedom ect. ect.) Because of their stances which stand quite far from our government's actual laws today of course they will stir up controversy. Old school KMK fans might be disapointed by the "mainstream-type" sound, but if you listen to their lyrics I think you will agree they will never be mainstream because they never plan to conform to mainstream standards. If they are put in the mainstream, as long as their message reminds true(and the same), I see it as them conforming the mainstream to them. Still rappin about legalizing freedom because freedom is still illegal makes perfect sense, and I hope these guys have as big of an impact on everyone else's life, as it did on mine.

there seem to be a lot of people out there who don't like this album, but i thought it was one of their best (high society will always be my fav.). there are a few songs on there that i was dissapointed in, you know the ones. but it is unfair to say that the entire album is crap just because a couple songs sound like "lil john could have produced them". if you think they were just trying to make a radio hit, they allready did with positive vibes. this album is a lot better than rollin stoned, which had some worse songs on it than #7. if you are a true fan of kmk, you will enjoy this album and appreciate the talent that these guy have. and for the reviewer that said he couldnt believe kmk was still around after their 1st album, why are you even reviewing their 7th album? must be a disgruntled fan.
the best tracks on here are: king klick, get your high on, let the sunshine, people come people go, p-town, the munchies, and take a bath.
this album has some amazing beats on it with some great flows from d loc, x, and richter. if you haven't gotten this album yet, don't listen to those few bad reviews and get it. you will like it.

2.0 out of 5 stars Where is the REAL KMK???? No. 7 = Disappointment, August 4, 2005
This review is from: Kottonmouth Kings No. 7 (Audio CD)
In order to write a fair review for this album you have to know KMK's history, which includes having their previous albums. If you don't know where they've been, you can't tell where they are going. The idea of them making a straight-up rap album would seem interesting enough, however it just didn't translate well to the finished product. It sounds like they had a good time making it, but I wish this energy could have been redirected into the music itself. There is entirely too much talking, goofy laughing, (b.s.ing in general) and stuff that could have been left in the studio and off of the disc. Skits are just worn out. KMK has lost the punk/rock element that made them unique and heads above the rest. Albums like Rollin' Stoned had a great mix of punk/rock/rap, just bad a** music all around. This production sounds like it was trying to be too "dirty south" as opposed to the old cali kings. There are few good songs here, especially for a true fan who knows better than to think that this is what they are all about. I never in my wildest imagination thought I would criticize the kings' music, but they must redeem themselves after this outing.

I probably listened to the whole thing 3 times and then after that I only listened to 3-4 songs off the album for the next few months, now I don't even bother putting it in. Could you ever say that about Royal Highness or High Society??????

Then we have no. 7. I'll correct myself, it's better then Fire it up. But it's easily their second worst cd behind it. They just don't have those "white-boy" beats no more. The more electronic beats that nobody else was coming out with. Now all their beats could easily be on the Next Ludacris or Lil John cd. They do have a few nice cuts on here don't get me wrong. But nowhere near their old stuff. Will they ever come out with another banger again? I doubt it. I'm almost to the point where I won't automatically buy their next cd. I'll stick with Kingspade.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bangin'..., June 1, 2005
By
This review is from: Kottonmouth Kings No. 7 (Audio CD)
Picked it up on 5/31/05. Popped it in CD player. Forgot to turn down volume when getting out of car before going into store. Blew off head. Insane bass. Almost died. As much as I love all the classic KMK albums, I think this one is my favorite of all. I didn't think this would be the case because of '04's Fire It Up (not that it sucked, it's just my least fave), but all I'm sayin' is that if yer a KMK fan in any way at all you absolutely must have this CD. Hell, if you like rap and hip-hop in general you should go grab this...FOREEEAAAL!! Seriously though...from start to finish it'll kick yer ass. As soon as you hear the first cut you'll be like "Damn...that white boy on that website was tellin' the truth!" PEACE!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Krowners Only, May 31, 2005
This review is from: Kottonmouth Kings No. 7 (Audio CD)
Wow... This cd is incredible. If you are a krowner or enjoy kmk's music, go buy this cd now, its sure to be a classic. From start to end this cd is banging and it exceeds all expectations. The Kings take it back to their hip hop roots on this cd and its got a nice vibe to it. There are only a handful of punk rock songs, and all but one of those transfer into amazing hip hop songs with great beats. No songs really stick out, but thats only because the whole album is great. I am honestly very impressed with this album, it just may be one of the best albums they've put out to date. I would recommend this cd to anyone, and I hope that everyone checks out the Kings in concert when D-Loc recovers. My personal favorite songs are "Get Your High On", "FTI2", "Let The Sunshine", "P-Town", and "Wasted". Dont burn this cd, go support the kings of the underground nation.

3.0 out of 5 stars good cd, but (...) kmk, August 24, 2005
This review is from: Kottonmouth Kings No. 7 (Audio CD)
i have big a hardcore fan of kmk since day one and let me say one thing: they will never make an album to come even close to comparing to royal highness. that was their first and best... and ironically, no.7 is their most recent and worst. i can't even use royal highness to compare anything to because that was such a perfect album, plus saint dog left after that cd so their sound changed with the addition of richter. i'd say their best post-saint album would be hidden stash vol.2.

but this is about no.7. pretty much (...). i still listen to the cd alot cuz cmon, its kmk... but what kmk is known for is making original sounding songs that no one else has ever seen. this cd has 6 original-sounding songs on it at the most. (bottoms up, peace of mind, let the sunshine, p-town, munchies, and stick together). the interludes are also good, but the rest of the songs on it all have that in-the-club vibe, or sound just like other kmk songs.

1. king klick - (3/5) - worst opener ever... too "in-the-club"
2. make it hot - (1/5) - second worst song on the cd. but the most "in-the-club"
3. get your high on - (4/5) - lyrics are kinda lame, but has a really good beat.
4. bottoms up - (4/5) - ah, the first original sounding cd on the record.. reminds of me "day-dreamin fazes"
5. shakey bonez (4/5) - basically just bass with loc making scratching noises.
6. we got the chronic (3/5) - lame plot, but its fun to yell "we got the chronic!!"
7. peace of mind (5/5) - EXCELLENT SONG. the best job kmk does with this cd are the stony-mellow tracks. this is one of three.
8. F.T.I.Z. (4/5) - kinda "in-the-club"ish, but tecca nina is sick in any song.
9. revolution (2/5) - the first of three "punkrock" songs.. it's not that good.
10. let the sunshine (5/5) - the second stony-mellow song on the record. not as good as "peace of mind" tho.
11. piss test (4/5) - woulda been better if it wasn't an interlude. real good beat.
12. put it down (0/5) - WORST KMK SONG EVER. possibly worst cypress hill song too, but they have alot of bad ones.
13. people come, people go (3/5) - doesn't suck, but theres nothing special about it.
14. watch your back (3/5) - lol.. they shoulda slapped the word "hoe" between "watch your back"'s... and have lil jon yellin YEAAA in the background. only thing that doesn't make this song suck is that it is catchy.
15. slow suicide (4/5) - the second punk song. and the better of the three.. no raps.. just punk.
16. p-town (6/5) - BEST SONG ON THE CD. simply amazing. one of their best ever. it's the third of the stony-mellow tracks, but it's a little up-tempo'd.
17. munchies (5/5) - excellent to have directly after p-town.. second best song on the cd. love every bit of it. just raps about food. i don't recall anyone ever making a song about the munchies..
18. nitrous tank (3/5) - "richter looooooves pizza..." cracks me up everytime. it's the third and final interlude. just bass with whispers of "who's got the nitrous tank?"
19. wasted (3/5) - the third and final punk track. it's better than revolution, but it's got "in-the-club" rap verses.
20. take a bath (3/5) - no different than any of the other numerous "in-the-club" tracks on the cd.
21. stick together (5/5) - very good song... reminds me of endless highway.

only songs worth listening to EVERY time you put in the cd:

peace of mind
let the sunshine
piss test
p-town
munchies
stick together

whole cd is good if your ridin around drunk on friday nite or something. but if i can sum up this whole cd in one sentence:

"Good cd, but... worst kmk ever"
