Its Greek To Me......,

The story of Alexandros Kouros and Kallie Demarchis was typical harlequin presents, big strong man bullies innocent virgin girl. First let me say that I have become quite a fan of Abby Green's because I appreciate that she pens strong level headed heroines, but not this time so that's why I was a bit disappointed. I expected more from Kallie's character than I got. The storyline goes that Alexandros blackmails poor Kallie into marriage in order to exact revenge on her for something he suspects that she did to contribute to the break up of an engagement that was to take place seven years prior when Kallie was 17 years old, and so now in the present Alexandros feels as if he is justified in basically blackmailing her into marriage to sooth his wounded pride.
Although, that being said the author takes great pains and nearly 2 and a half pages describing how much of a no nonsense business man and alpha male Alexandros is, but in the reverse given the first opportunity he goes and blackmails Kallie into his bed. I also wasn't pleased with the way Alexandros treated Kallie after they got married; he treated her like a sexual object no better than a call-girl and even worse she allowed it to happen out of some misguided belief that she still harbored feelings of love for someone she had an adolescent crush on when she was a teenager. I hate to keep saying this but I'm disappointed in this book because I know Abby Green can create stronger female characters then this, I have experienced it in her previous books and unfortunately in my opinion this one falls short the mark. I could not reconcile myself with the fact that Kallie successful head of a PR firm that to all accounts was at the top of the food chain, but on the other hand she was a whimp that allowed her husband to push her around and use her poorly, not allowing her to have any deep or meaningful conversation with him, because as he loosely put it all she was good to him for was the "physical aspect" and that's the only reason he married her; not to mention he kept reminding her that their marriage had an expiration date like a gallon of milk that all depended on how long she amused him in the bedroom. All things being fair I do see how the author tried to humanize Alexandros and imply that he had deeper feelings for Kallie throughout the story but the mean and hateful way he treated her most of the story just overshadowed what Ms. Green was trying to do. Perhaps I missed something here and another reviewer will have a better outlook about this book, but as the review title says "It's all Greek to me". Happy Reading!

Alexandros the alpha hero was cool, rich and good looking as we expect but he is a big jerk. Kallie runs her own PA company but she is such a wimp that you actually find yourself wishing she would get hit by a bus. Alexandros turns out to be human at the end of the book and in love with wimpy- but really it was more than I could stand by then. I gave it three stars and if you have nothing else to read this will do. Or if you just like this kind of woman- go for it.

It's seven years later and Alexandros Kurous and Kallie Demarchis run into each other at a party in Paris. At first, he does not recognize Kallie but is definitely attracted to her in ways no other woman has touched him. There are times you will want to slap him for his desire not only for revenge but also because he is using his newly acquired wife of convenience in the most hurtful of ways, strictly for his pleasure. Therefore, in the end when the tables are turned and he actually begins to "feel" you pray for them it is not too late. Kallie Demarchis has blossomed into a beautiful and talented businesswoman. When she literally bumps into Alexandros her world tilts; all she can think of it getting away. However, she learns her Uncle needs Alexandros financial help and is blackmailed into marrying him, knowing that he plans to take his revenge physically and in the end, cast her off and divorce her. At times, this story was painful to read, to watch and feel her suffer, unable to control her love and physical desire for him. And in the end feel her need to end the marriage before she shattered! I congratulate Abby Green on this extremely moving, intense and powerful love story......Alexandros and Kallie will long be remembered by this reader
