I been getting these guides for the past 20 years. There a good basic guide when you need them. I prefer actual sales information to get a value for something. The only thing, I don't like about them are that they don't have photo for most of the items they list. Sure they put some pictures in the book. But an item without a picture, is only a guess what you think it is.

Those who have purchased a fairly recent edition of Kovels' guide will have an idea of what they will receive, but for those who haven't purchased one in years they will be surprised at the additional material that can be found in these pages. In this particular edition you will find 44,000 market prices, 2,500 color photographs, and the usual tips and trivia this guide is known for. Chances are you won't have one of those high ticket items lying around your home or nestled in a corner in your attic, but you're going to have a fairly good idea of what some of your items are worth after browsing through this book.

If you are a garage sale goddess or love to haunt flea markets and estate sales this guide, along with others, is a must. You can simply keep your guides in your vehicle and if you spot something interesting you'll be well prepared. On the contrary, if you are having a sale, this guide may help you immeasurably. Just browsing the pictures and checking out the prices can be a lot of fun, but one of my favorites are the tip vignettes. For example, one tip states: "To dust small, fragile items like flower-decorated figurines, try blowing the dust away with a hand-held dryer set on low. For large, sturdy items, cover the end of the vacuum cleaner nozzle with an old nylon stocking, then vacuum."

You will find instructions in the front of the book that will tell you how to use the book, but what many people to do is flip aimlessly through the pages and read snippets in an assortment of categories. Keep in mind this book is meant to be a guide and you won't be able to find the exact price of every little knickknack in your home, but you might find a few. My suggestion would be, in addition to purchasing this guide, would be to read up on how to recognize reproductions. This is an A to Z guide, new or used, that you are bound to learn from and definitely enjoy. Do you know what that old doll you have is worth? How about some of grandma's old glassware? Who knows, maybe you just might have a treasure hanging around your house!

Kovel's price guide: For a collector this is the best book to purchase. down to earth with prices and has everything.

Book leaves a lot to be desired in attempting to value items. It is very time consumming tring to find an item. Delivery of product was rediculusly slow with no tracking information available from seller. It took 16 days to arrive. For a few cent more the seller could have sent priority mail 3 to 4 day delivery any where in the lower 48 states. Instead when you check on order they tell you it might take 21 days. even the USPS say standard mail only takes 4 to 14 days. I am at a loss to explain the difference. I will not order from them again

I HAVE BEEN FAMILIAR WITH THE KOVELS BOOKS AND NEWSLETTERS FOR A LONG TIME. I THOUGHT I WOULD PURCHASE A NEW EDITION OF THEIR ANTIQUES AND COLLECTIBLES. I LOOKED THROUGH THE WHOLE BOOK AND I FOUND NOTHING I WAS HOPING TO FIND.I GUESS I WILL HAVE TO LOOK ELSEWHERE. I AM RETURNING THE BOOK.

THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST REFERANCE BOOKS I HAVE EVER USED, WHAT IS REALLY GOOD IS THERE IS A WEB PAGE THAT LISTS EVEN MORE ITEMS, BOOK IS ORGINIZED AND EASY TO USE, PRICES ARE VERY ACCURATE COMPARED TO OTHERS.

I have needed a book with this information for quite some time. I believe it will help me immensely.
