This isn't really useful if you're grating an entire block of cheese for a casserole or anything, but I knew that when I bought it. Instead I keep it on my kitchen table so guests can shred the desired amount of cheese onto their food. it is so adorable and I get a lot of compliments. It has also been pretty easy for me to clean which is great since I don't use a dishwasher!

I really like this grater. I have used it a couple of times to grate fresh ginger, but I have not tried it grating cheese. Perhaps I will edit this when I do use it that way. For grating ginger, it did a great job, finely grating until my little piece of ginger was gone. The grater is decorative enough for me to leave out on my counter, which I do. I just run it through the dishwasher when I use it. I do like Koziol products, and this one is no exception. Their products are decorative and yet functional.

My daughter picked out this little guy for Dad's Christmas present. It looks like it should just walk on over and grate the cheese by itself. The cheese grates to a very fine consistency. It actually would probably be great for grating fine chocolate as well. I am concerned that the paws will eventually crack off from the dishwasher but so far so good! It is a cute inexpensive add on / joke type gift.
