I always loved this cheese, and just like the other reviewers, it is NOT the same as Velveeta OR the slices that also come in a box. It seems that Kraft has discontinued this product, and I'll see if they answer my query on this. I'll bet they try to say the slices are the same, BUT THEY TASTE DIFFERENT! Great for grilled cheese as well as many recipes as other reviewers stated. KRAFT, BRING THIS BACK!!

I, too, can't live without my cheese. Here in the Pacific NW I finally found it at Top Foods. Not even Kraft would send me any! This price is very high. I get it for $11.

I am so upset after a day of looking for my favorite cheese, only to find it has been discontinued in the only local chain that I previously could find it in. I went to the customer service desk to ask the grocer to investigate the matter. I guess our family has just lost several of our all-time favorite recipes, if I can't get this any more...there goes the Chicken Cheese Soup, mac & cheese, brocolli & rice casserole (plus MANY other casseroles), grilled cheese sandwiches, etc...nothing can replace the delicious flavor of this cheese! What has happened, KRAFT???!!!! WHY??????!!!!

My family has been using this cheese for 3 generations of our homemade enchiladas now and have had to use other brands when we needed something in a pinch but just couldn't find Kraft Deluxe American. None of the substitutes we've ever tried have worked very well - some downright terrible! The Kraft Singles - don't even waste your time! Velveeta - Terrible for cooking outside of Mac & Cheese or cheese dip with Rotel Tomatoes & Green Chilis! I can't believe Kraft has discontinued this product, but that appears to be the case. I had a hard time finding it a few months back, but finally found it at Wal-Mart Supercenter. I've searched numerous local grocery stores (Kroger, Tom Thumb, HEB Central Market, Wal-Mart Neighborhood Grocery, and finally Wal-Mart Supercenter today - No Luck!). I've searched online - hoping maybe I could order from Amazon or find elsewhere online...No Luck! I searched from the Kraft website to try and locate it and a search within 25 miles (the farthest the website would allow) resulted in No Hits! So, looks like we're going to have to find a substitute.

Per one suggestion read here, I'm going to try the American cheese sold by the pound in the Deli at Wal-Mart Supercenter. We bought 2 pounds of the Land O Lakes brand and sampled it - it tastes pretty good by itself, so hopefully it doesn't ruin $40 worth of ingredients! BTW, we paid $6.48 per pound for the Land O Lakes today - will post an update after we've made / eaten the enchiladas.

UPDATE: The "Land O Lakes Yellow American Cheese" (product # 5146 at Wal Mart) is an EXCELLENT replacement for the Kraft Deluxe American Cheese. We just made 3 dozen enchiladas and they were delicious! This is what I'll use from now on with our enchiladas! It grates well, melts well, and tastes delicious!

I am in my 70's and was raised eating this cheese. I raised my kids on this cheese and now their family eats this cheese. This is the best cheese there is for anything you want to make, from Grilled cheese sandwiches, mac and cheese, cheese and crackers with a beer or just eat it by itself. When I find a store that sells it I am in heaven and stock up. I paid close to $11 for a 2# box a couple of weeks ago and would pay a lot more than that to get it, I like it that much. This cheese isn't any more expensive than any other cheese. I don't waste my time buying Velveta. That stuff is garbage as far as I am concerned. So Kraft, please keep the Deluxe American cheese coming for us REAL cheese lovers.

I have been using Kraft American cheese for over 35 years or longer. I keep it in a Tupperware container that I bought back in the early 70's. Personally I believe it the best and is always at the top of my shopping list. When guest come for dinner and I serve Mexican food, especially enchiladas, casseroles or just plain home cooking, like macaroni and cheese, every time someone asked, " what kind of cheese is in this ?" So to wrap this up, my family and our children and their families use Kraft American cheese in the 2 pound box.
Sincerely and thanks,
Mary Jane Chamberlain

I seem to be preaching to the choir, but I NEED this cheese! It is the best American cheese out there (and that is saying a lot from me because I do not like Kraft). I also have several recipes I cannot make without this cheese. I've tried other American cheeses but they taste off and always make me sick. Velveeta makes me sick. The crappy sliced cheese makes me ill. I live in Texas and cannot find it anywhere. HEB has a store brand that is close and has not made me sick, yet, but it is still not the same. This is just not right! Bring it back Kraft! I already don't like you, why take away the one redeeming factor, decent cheese you had?

Where can one find this product. My local markets have stopped stocking this item. I have been to several different stores and have had no luck locating it. I live in the (IE) Inland Empire of Southern California. Would love to know where I can buy this?????? Help anyone!

This is by far the best american cheese I've ever had. I'vee been eating this since a child and now they discontinue it... Foul play I say. You can go to Krafts website [...]
to leave a message asking them to bring it back. Miss this cheese. Individual slices and velveeta just don't cut it.
