5.0 out of 5 stars Arcade combined with puzzles and exploration April 7, 2014
Verified Purchase
This app gets a big thumbs up for absolutely no intrusive elements that I could detect. There are no permissions listed, no social media nags, and through the screens I played never a call or reason for in app purchases. This is what many of us call for as customers and I hope the devs that respond like this succeed.

Courli is a bouncing tennis ball who you guide though screens of varied difficulty and configuration. We've all seen games generally of this type before, but this one has enough spirit and originality to stand on its own. Courli bounces up and down on his own schedule as he encounters obstacles top and bottom, and you have to move him left or right the correct amount of space at the right time. As the screens progress they include obstacles which can eliminate Courli ... don't let him contact those or you start that screen over. There are also puzzle elements such as pots which change his color, and he must be the correct color to interact with certain elements on those screens.

The game itself gives you adequate instructions in terms of pictures displayed at appropriate times. I had no problem in figuring out what was going on. The game does have a definite arcade style feel to it, as your timing must be spot on in many instances to keep Courli moving as efficiently as you can, and to keep him from going "poof" on an obstacle.

There are plenty of puzzles to keep your interest, and on replay you can try for better times, and try to pick up coins or gems you might have missed the first time around.

I played this on a Kindle Fire HD 8.9 with absolutely no issues.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ages 4-7 appropriate, Adult worry free April 7, 2014

Seems as if developers are really starting to take notice of the general dislike of unnecessary Permissions and "sly" linkings to other products. I recently reviewed another IAP free, Permissions free, "advertising free" kids game that was pretty bland in design, awful in music, HUGE in memory usage, and Amazon App Store linking to other games. COURLI is everthing opposite of those qualities.

Zero permissions, low system resource usage, very clean interface (no outside links at all, not even Other Games), pleasant music (yes, yes, very repetitious, but in a low key manner), delightfully bright graphics, happy happy end-level screen (the applause fx is just so darn polite), clean exit with the Back-key, and a easy to grasp game mechanic suitable for ages 4-7.

You guide a bouncing tennis ball along the levels, using a responsive forward and back touch system, collecting coins and gems, knocking out secret blocks, using various primary color pots to "power you up" to get past other similar color blocks (nice add of primary color recognition), while avoiding spikes, water, and other environmental hazards to get to the end flag. It's like Marios for a 4 year old! Very well executed design with plenty of variety in levels and environmental worlds. Most of the maze mechanics are linear without any complex solutions, but there is a touch of timing (a.k.a. twitch playing) in order to get 100% completion.

Heck, I am going to keep this one handy (along with FANTASTIC FARM) for those times I have to drive long distances with a child in tow. Excellent work, Krauss & Boll Software. Definitely a developer to keep an eye on.

5.0 out of 5 stars "Cute For Kids And Easy To Learn"...... April 7, 2014
Verified Purchase
This is a cute arcade game with Courli the tennis ball bouncing along platforms and blocks trying to collect all the coins and gems you can in time...You must do this by avoiding obstacles such as such spikes, water, and etc to get to the flag poles..Dip Courli in the colored pots for power-ups to match coorindating blocks to crack them open to get extra hidden coins...Easy controls which are right and left arrows to go forward and backwards...Very relaxing and happy gameplay...Three stars to complete each level 100% and fun applause at the end...Four worlds with 120 different levels...Nice, but simple graphics..Great game for all kids big or little...

No malware, ads, permisssions and parents don't have to worry about IAP or internet links...

Safe and definitely worth 99 cents after today...

4.0 out of 5 stars A slow moving Duke Nukem without the violence. April 7, 2014
Verified Purchase
This is a horizontal scrolling game where you guide a bubble along a puzzle-flled maze. The goal is to make it to the finish as quickly as possible while collecting as many rewards as possible along the way.

There are only two controlls, tap on the lower left of your screen to move left and the lower right to move... yep, right, All guidance is provided with pictures so there is nothing to read and very little to understand. This is playable by younger kids (if they don't get frustrated by the puzzles) to adults (if we don't get frustrated by the slow moving nature of game play,

The game contains no malware of other bad things and is a nice value for its normal price. For free, downloading is a "no brainer"

Amazingly Smooth game play is excellent for younger players (and us older folks) to enjoy without Frantic high pressure stress. Controls work well to move the BOUNCING BALL that rickochets off everything. Seems a little slow for some people but that adds to style of game with slightly different Strategy than others of this type. It is CUTE and Fun to play. Everything works great. Good Music and Sound Effects (can be Muted). Puzzles are well designed and quite challenging at times. For LEISURELY Play, it's a wonderful choice and the Grandkids Love it.

Overall, a good take on an established game style. Keeps you Engaged and Satisfied with variables in Platforms, Obstacles, Gems to collect, etc. I Commend the Developer for not having annoyances such as Malware, Adware, or IAP's in this Excellent game. I highly recommend it, especially for small kids and us Older folks as well (ha-ha). We like fun too! Thanks to Developer for a job well done with this Neat and Clean app.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun and addicting
Love this game whenever I get bored or can't get to sleep. I always strive for 3 stars and there are enough different styles of levels that it keeps the game fresh.

2.0 out of 5 stars supposed to be nostalgic but found it boring
this game supposedly harkens back to the good old side scrolling games of my youth like Super Mario brothers but had this been a game back then I would have passed on it
