5.0 out of 5 stars Cheap and effective - I love the long bit
It's counterintuitive, but the long bit is actually the easiest to use and most stable when driving pocket screws. The Kreg bits are very well made, hardened, and don't wear as fast as ordinary square drive bits. That's particularly important when doing pocket hole construction - there's nothing more frustrating than a stripped bit or screw head halfway in a pocket...

2.0 out of 5 stars you don't really need this
The Kreg jig comes with a driver so you don't relly need this unless you want an extra.

It's counterintuitive, but the long bit is actually the easiest to use and most stable when driving pocket screws. The Kreg bits are very well made, hardened, and don't wear as fast as ordinary square drive bits. That's particularly important when doing pocket hole construction - there's nothing more frustrating than a stripped bit or screw head halfway in a pocket hole. In fact, I keep my Kreg bits separate and only use them for pocket holes. I use my regular bit set square drive bits for other square drive uses and toss them as they wear.

I have found that all Kreg products work. I bought the drivers for backups. Have not needed to replace originals in 3 years.

Probably 2 of the handiest bits Ive ever owned mind you, but they really are just bits. Ive driven over 300 screws with the 6" and its as good as new.

5.0 out of 5 stars Kreg makes GREAT stuff!, September 20, 2010
This review is from: Kreg DDS 3-Inch No.2 Square Driver Bit and 6-Inch No.2 Square Driver Bit for Kreg Pocket Hole Systems (Tools & Home Improvement)
Having both lengths is great, long for pocket screws, short for close quarters. You can't beat these for the price, and they're magnetized! I would say I would buy them again, but they've already lasted me 10x longer then any other bits I have owned so I may not need to!

Great addition to the Pocket Hole Jig kit! However, I didn't realize these were already included in the Kreg K3MS kit. Always handy to have extras.

Both the 3" and the 6" bits have exceptional grip on square drive screws. I have used the cheap chinese bits and there is no comparison on performance. It's suprising that there is much of a difference, (after all square should be square right???) but there really is a difference.

This is a MUST for any pocket hole user. Sure helps to have a short and long spare in the case that comes with your tool. You never know when it's going to break or you'll misplace it in the shop. You know you will never find the one you lost until you get another one in the case! That's how it works for me.

4 stars because I think they should be as hard if not harder than the screws and last longer. If you screw a LOT of screws look at the tip. Mine are bent around in a twist but they still work! I have not broken one yet but I'm anticipating it soon.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just like the other Kreg stuff, top flight., December 14, 2009
This review is from: Kreg DDS 3-Inch No.2 Square Driver Bit and 6-Inch No.2 Square Driver Bit for Kreg Pocket Hole Systems (Tools & Home Improvement)
I ordered these as spares but I haven't needed them yet, the ones that came with the Kreg kit are still holding up really well. I've driven a lot of screws and I'm finding out that just about everything Kreg makes is well designed and they use top flight materials in construction. Thier bits may cost a little more than others but I'm finding it worth the premium price.

5.0 out of 5 stars OCD Overourchase?, July 29, 2009

Having started out with the super-duper everything kit from Kreg, I didn't need these, but being a little OCD, and having a bad habit of misplacing needed items mid project, they seemed like a real good idea. Of course, when you have a spare in your box, you don't lose the original until the spare has gone missing too, right ?

5.0 out of 5 stars Well worth the cost!, September 26, 2010
This review is from: Kreg DDS 3-Inch No.2 Square Driver Bit and 6-Inch No.2 Square Driver Bit for Kreg Pocket Hole Systems (Tools & Home Improvement)
These bits are just incredible in their longevity. I have driven - and removed (ooops)- literally thousands of screws, and they are still nearly as good as the day I got them. Initially these are more expensive to be sure. But at the end of the day, are they REALLY that much more expensive? I say no for two main reasons. Firstly, these things outlast anything else out there. Secondly, these will not break right in the middle of a project...when the stores are all closed. In fact, the worst thing that happenes to me is if I misplace them somewhere. (Not that I ever do that! LOL)

Bottom line:
More expensive? ...Yes.
Worth it? ...Definitely!
