This review is from: Kremlin Kapers (Paperback)
This book and the authors other books like Licensed To Spy, have a unique history of relations between the United States and former USSR Russia. There is entertaining humor within the stories of his experiences. This book has a particular connection with the cities Norfolk, and Virginia Beach, in Virginia. Some of it takes place in this area and it was also published here. Our area is, {ironic to the story} visited by many Work Program students from Russia. Having met and become friends with them I was inclined to visit the library and read a little bit about where my friends came from. This book was oddly filed with books much more specific for traveling to areas in Russia to see sights. Some reason it stood out and I grabbed it and as I skimmed it over it captured my curiosity and i checked it out. Reading this book made me realize his experiences in this area are ironically similar to mine. Just in a different generation and a little different this time around. I had to but this book because it is such an interesting bit of history for my area. I was delighted to find that although I ordered a plain used book at a good price it just happened to be personally autographed inside to someone who was also a Rotaian with him. If I remember correctly he was president of the local Rotary group. Any way I can go on and on about this book. I think someone without the same connections as I to the book would still enjoy it quite well. Great story and history.
