The Nutrigold product is one of the best values out there for pure NKO krill oil.
cr8ivemomma01
It further claims that it has contained the problem to have only affected one lot of product.
RWM
There is very little fishy smell when opening the bottle, and no aftertaste or burping.

This is a side-by-side comparison of ten leading brands of krill oil: Nutrigold Krill Oil Gold (1000 mgs), Nutrigold Krill Oil Gold (500 mgs), Now Foods Neptune Krill Oil (1000 mgs), Now Foods Neptune Krill Oil (500 mgs), Schiff Mega Red Extra Strength Omega-3 Krill Oil, Schiff MegaRed Omega-3 Krill Oil, Viva Labs Krill Oil, Jarrow Formulas Neptune Krill Oil, Source Naturals NKO Neptune Krill Oil, and Source Naturals Arctic Pure Krill Oil, and a leading brand of omega-3 fish oil, Nutrigold Triple Strength Omega-3 Gold Fish Oil.

OMEGA-3 FATTY ACIDS: Omega-3 fatty acids are what make krill oil and fish oil so beneficial. There are three major components of omega-3 fatty acids in these products: EPA (which is good for your heart, circulatory system, lowering triglycerides, depression and mood orientation, and is a powerful anti-inflammatory for soothing joint pains), DHA (which is good for your mental acuity, or if you are pregnant, nursing an infant, or for children), and "other." Other omega-3s, like DPA and SDA, are types of fatty acids which are easily converted to EPA in the body. In most fish oils, the amount of these other fatty acids is low, but in highly concentrated oils, it can be a significant amount. The important components are EPA and DHA.

KRILL OIL VS FISH OIL: Krill oil is an omega-3 nutrient and is an alternative source of omega-3 than fish oil. Some folks prefer krill oil over fish oil because they believe it has increased bioavailability and better absorption than fish oil, and contains the additional nutrients, Astaxanthin and Phospholipids. In fact, this is correct. Krill oil has better bioavailability and absorption than fish oil and contains Astaxanthin and Phospholipids, neither of which are contained in fish oil.

As others reviewers said, the softgels had an orange oily film on them with a rancid smell. You could get sick consuming them. I returned them to Amazon. I called the Nutrigold company. They admitted they have had problems with the covers/softgels by the mfg. they contract with and are working to solve the problem. He said he couldn't directly replace as I ordered from Amazon, though they do the actual shipping. I wouldn't want a replacement anyway until mfg. issue is fixed. In my comparison shopping with adjusting for dosage, concentration, and the inclusion of Astaxanthin and Phospholipid, this item seemed the best.

Amounts of oil found in bottles, no capsules we broken; therefore feared quality control process of packaging. Did not take as smell was large and rancid. Amazon was great and swift with refund.
Purchased and checked local pharmacy brand and NO oil in their bottles. Will now have to find another source. I thought Neptune was the gold standard in krill product.

I was excited to give krill oil a try and this seemed like the best reviewed product on Amazon so I decided to give it a shot. When it finally arrived and I took a look at the bottle and noticed right away that the Fish Gelatin ingredient was changed to Kosher Bovine Gelatin. Ok, I am not against bovine so I was still excited to open it and try it out.

When I cracked it open, it wasn't as bad as of a smell as I thought until I got close...then it was almost unbearable. The inside of the bottle and all the pills were completely coated in an orange liquid, or the innards of some broken or leaky pills. I contacted to see if this was normal and was told it was not, the pills should be smooth and clean. Since it came with 2 bottles of 60 (something I liked so I could leave 1 at home and 1 at work) I decided to open the other bottle and see. That bottle was worse! With all this, I decided to try it out anyway. As soon as the pill touched my tongue I gagged, spit it out, almost threw up, and had to drink something and eat something to get the taste out. Not sure if this is due to the new gelatin not holding up, but this product needed to be returned.

A couple things that bothered me: First if you can't have bovine, then beware cause this isn't for you. Second, from what I read about krill oil, orange is the inferior color for a pill to be. The darker the color the better the quality typically. These were pretty orange.

After reading all the glowing reviews about this product, I was greatly disappointed with the product. Many of the caplets were broken creating a sticky film on the "good" caplets. I did not notice it at first because the broken ones were not on the first layer of caplets. I would have returned them immediately. I won't even mention the odor now when I open the bottle. I am not even sure if they are spoiled. So I guess I should just throw them out to be safe.

These capsules leak, and all the capsules in both bottles were covered with oil. Now they stink, taste bad, and my kids won't take them. I bought these specifically because of the astaxanthin, but I will go back to the other brand (which never leaked).

Krill oil is a better product than fish oil by 48 times. However as I started taking the pills out of the bottle of this brand, I noticed they had a sticky red coating on them. i finally poured them onto a kleenex and many of the pills leaked the red fishy smelling ( I know it's not suppose to smell fishy but these pills do) oil onto the kleenex. i never had this kind of problem with MegaRed.
