One of the best Raw books out there!!!, December 16, 2008

This is honestly one of the best down right, straight and to the point raw food books on the market. Kristen does a great job at succinctly organizing EVERYTHING you could possibly want to know about starting and succeeding at this raw foods and vegan lifestyle. With chapters about "How Raw Works", "Exercise & Physical Fitness", "A Day in the life of Raw", and "14-Day Sample Meal Plan", this book encourages and motivates you to begin and stay raw and vegan.
In Kristen's first chapter she says, "If you're looking to experience life at its fullest, then you definitely need to start incorportaing more Raw food into your daily food choices. If you're looking to be the happiest you've ever been, then this is the answer." And I say if you are looking to get started on the raw journey and are ready to have a ton of knowledge organized in such a fashion that it's super easy to follow...then BUY THIS BOOK!
I was so impressed and eager to continue on my raw journey. As a person who is already 100% raw, I knew that it would be a great read, but it was so much more. I learned a ton of stuff like how to travel in the raw more easily . Wow, I read it right before taking a weekend trip. What a difference. The chapter is broken down into car trips (short), car trips (long), airplane trips (short), airplane trips (long).
So, overall this is an amazing raw food book. The cover is gorgeous and vibrant Adn the message is energizing and full of life. Kristen's book really delivers.

Throughout my journey with cancer, I have learned that one of the most powerful weapons in fighting and preventing most common diseases is eating a mostly raw plant-based diet. While this way of life may sound extreme, I believe that this is the optimum food for our bodies, and that many modern health problems are the result of deviating from this simple and basic truth. Unfortunately, most of us were not raised to eat healthfully. Plus, it can be difficult to follow a vegan lifestyle in our fast, junk culture of empty calories and processed, chemically altered garbage (AKA food).
Enter "Kristen's Raw"! In this fun, sassy, and inspiring book, Kristen Suzanne makes going raw simple, and unintimidating. Her facts are sound and well research. She not only teaches the basics of preparing the world's healthiest diet, she also teaches you how to deal with the potential emotional roller coasters such as self-doubt, discipline, cravings, and the social distance that can happen when you opt out of eating the SAD diet - even the so-called "healthy" version which she has labeled with an acronym so fabulously feisty that I'm just going to let you read the book to find out for yourself.

Kristen is So Inspiring, December 5, 2008

I feel so inspired about my nutritional choices after reading this book. "People" assume my sugar-free diet is boring and restrictive just as Kristen's Raw lifestyle may seem impossible (once my restrictions seemed hard to me too).
I enjoyed her point of view and her energy in this book because it makes me enjoy my food more when I know it's nutritional. No more "slop" for me as my husband calls overly cooked food. I love her respect for food. I love how she describes that her kitchen is set up to keep her sucessful with the Raw lifestyle. This book has offered me MORE choices and options in nutriton than I imagined I'd find doing a (cane)sugar detox. My most favorite part is the food health ladder she describes showing how many of us are fooled by the SAD diet and "low fat SAD diet*." I will be using this food ladder to make a point with the patients I counsel.
I can't wait to read the other books in her series and I look forward to all the healthy and delicious meal planning in my future!
