5.0 out of 5 stars great great great way to go Ann.
This book is really great .I really disagree with the people who badmouthed it.I mean this is when they get Emily. And that is very inportant.I think that people who wrote those bad things about it did not even read it .And decided to make trouble .And write bad things.keep writing Ann M. Martin. If she stops it will be your fault.

2.0 out of 5 stars Don't waste money, it isn't worth it
Okay, you may like it if you're a brainless 10-years-old white caucasian upperclassman. Otherwise no. All BSC books are dull but this one is the dullest. Like parents were going to give their kids to a bunch of 13-years-old. And the throwing up scene in the carousel. How thrilling

This book was okay. I mean, the text and all were good and the idea was great, but for one thing: the author treats the girls like they're adults. We know they're not. When I was, like, eight I used to think: Oh, when I'm thirteen I'll be just as adult and I'll feel really adult then. And you know what? I don't, I really don't. Martin treats the kids like they're grown up already, when really, some people aren't grown up until they're thirty. Nice try, Martin, but try to write a little more convincingly.

1.0 out of 5 stars Oh, gag me, September 27, 1999

Yuck. This book was totally boring. Well, maybe you'll like it if you're, like, 7 or 8 years old or something. Not only is it totally boring, but poorly written. Which surprised me because Ann M. Martin is certainly not a bad writer! I'm really glad she left the BSC and started writing a new series about them. The BSC books are soo boring and childish. Please- a hard to handle babysitting adventure is when the dog runs loose for 2 seconds. Don't waste your time reading the BSC books. They are all pretty dumb.

2.0 out of 5 stars catchy book title, August 10, 2005
A Kid's Review
the mother's day surprise is about kristy mother and stepfather adopting emily michelle, a 2 year old baby girl from vietnam. The book is not really about that though it's mostly about the babysitters club and visiting stacey(who was in new york at the time) taking the kids to a carnival during the mother's day weekend to give them a day off or something. It may have been a sweet gesture, but during mother's day families actually LIKE to spend time with one another on the weekends and if I were a mother with kids and living in stoneybrook I never would have wanted to send my kids in the care of 13 year old girls on a festive weekend that is supposed to be family time. Come on!

4.0 out of 5 stars Better!, April 14, 2005
Kristy and the Mother's day Surprise is better than Dawn On the Coast. The Pike kids are preparing a super meal for Mrs. Pike from many siblings. Kristy and Watson are going to adopt Emily Michelle for Mrs. Thomas.

5.0 out of 5 stars It was really neat! I want to read it over and over again!, December 4, 1997

Kristy's is having trouble deciding what to get for her mother for Mother's Day. Then, Kristy get one of her famous great ideas. The best part about the idea, is that it is like a present to lots of the Baby-sitters Club's clients. The idea is that the BSC will watch alot of the clients children the day before Mother's Day, so that the mothers can get a day off from being mothers. The children have a great time. Plus, a surprise vistor to most of the children, an old friend of the BSC comes to visit. Just when Kristy though that the day couldn't have been better, her mother reveiles a surprise of her own.

1.0 out of 5 stars Pretty dumb., July 26, 2001

I thought this book was stupid and unrealistic. I don't really like the older BSC books...the newer ones with Abby are way better. If you want to read it, though, get it from the library...I wouldn't reccomend buying.
