SPAREX is a granular dry acid compound manufactured by Krohn Technical Products for pickling, cleaning and removing surface oxidation, scale, and incrustation from metals. SPAREX is an easy to use, longer lasting, safe replacement for dangerous sulfuric acid in effective cleaning and pickling of metals. SPAREX also minimizes the risk of over-pickling, pitting, burning, and wire brushing. SPAREX produces smooth, clean, bright surfaces quickly and economically, without destroying fine detail or tolerances. The prepared solution has 1 ½ times the available acid content of a 5% sulfuric acid solution.

Sparex is the tried & true, old fashioned Pickling solution for silver and other metal use.
Solder your piece of work and then drop it into a solution of Sparex that is kept warm
in a pickling pot or even an old crock pot set on low temperature. Use your copper tongs to
place & remove the work, plunging the piece into a bath of plain water or water with a bit
of baking soda in it to neutralize the Sparex acid when done pickling. You should have a
nice clean bright work in progress when done using this acid. Be sure to mix it with water
according to the directions on the can. A workhorse standard at the jeweler's bench
