Although the music on this cd is excellent it is not Krokodils first cd, as the title would suggest. It is actually a compilation of six songs which only play for a meagre 33 minutes. These six songs are culled off "Sweat and Swim" Go for this album instead, it's a great album, includes the 17 minute "Linger" runs for 70 minutes and is brilliant value.

Krokodil is a bright example of early progressive music with intensive use of sitar and with strong blues/hard rock undertones. I have not much information about this band. First (Krokodil) and second (Swamp) albums were recorded in 1969/1970 by Terry Stevens (bass), Hardy Hepp (violin, piano), Dude Durst (drums), Walty Anselmo (sitar, guitar), Mojo Weideli (harp, flute). Their music is very interesting for progressive rock fans.

It's noted (by several sources) that this CD was the krautrock band's first album. However, it's later revealed that this six track CD is actually a compilation release + it clocks in under the 35 minute mark. Try as I might, I simply cannot slam this outstanding German ensemble. With tunes like the wailing "Talking World War III Blues" and "Two To Twelf" {for starters}, you JUST know the rest of their CD reissues will be good to own too. TRUST me on this, but unless you're a completist - pass on this pressing and seek out a copy of their self-titled CD on the (often) hard-to-find Second Battle label. For it has three bonus cuts and a totally different cover. Very nice.
