5.0 out of 5 stars Nice features at a nice price
When buying a coffee maker, more expensive does not make a better cup of coffee. Roughly speaking, all drip coffeemakers can make the same great cup o' joe; what you're really paying for are the extra features you get.

1.0 out of 5 stars This one is not long for my kitchen.
I've had this coffeemaker for a few months now and I've come to the conclusion that in my case it was a waste of money. There's nothing all that wrong with it for ordinary everyday purposes, if you want to make regular coffee in a coffee maker, but frankly, I've decided that I don't. Furthermore, there's nothing all that right with it either. I found that after a few...

When buying a coffee maker, more expensive does not make a better cup of coffee. Roughly speaking, all drip coffeemakers can make the same great cup o' joe; what you're really paying for are the extra features you get.

That being said, this Krups model provides a good number of features at a good price. Among the nice features:

1) A rubber stopper keeps the machine from dripping when you take the carafe out.

2) Reusable filter means never running out of paper filters; saves ya a couple of bucks too.

3) Water level indicator on the side tells you how much water is in the machine.

4) Carafe lid is designed to keep water from evaporating, meaning that coffee kept on the hot plate for three hours will still be palateable.

About the only features missing are a built-in grinder and a timer, but these features often cost a pretty penny. You'll be hard-pressed to find a better coffeemaker for the price.

We have had this machine for about a year now and it has worked great with the exception of one thing. The machine makes good coffee and it keeps it warm for as long as you want. One of the nicer features is the button that allows it set the coffee maker to flow the water slowly. It goes a long way to make a richer blend of coffee if you like that kind of thing. The only problem that we encountered is the tip that keeps the coffee from flowing when you pull out the carafe. This tip broke off a few months after we got the coffee maker. It really made no difference on the quality of the coffee and we don't even notice that its missing.

I found that after a few weeks, I was back to my old habit again-I make instant coffee as my daily coffee and this coffeemaker didn't change that for any length of time. It's just easier, that's all. And I'm not sorry about that. I am personally a lot more comfortable that way. Furthermore, all this coffeemaker does now is take up space in the kitchen that is needed for other things, including the expreso/capuccino machine which I will be buying just after the first of next year when I add a new table to my kitchen, on which I can put it. So it will undoubtedly be thrown out in very short order. Also, I think the brand Krups is not necessarily the best, including the design of its products.
