Your husband prefers a cup of dark French Roast in the morning, but you prefer to finish off a whole pot of mild, lighter-bodied coffee during the course of the day. How to satisfy everyone? This dual coffeemaker has two independent carafes, filter holders, water chambers, and water level indicators so you can simultaneously brew up to eight cups of each person’s favorite blend. The DuoThek is also great for offering both caffeinated and decaffeinated coffee at dinner parties or in a small office.

Krups’ special Deep Brew System employs a unique filtering action to enrich the flavor of any ground beans, and a double-walled filter preserves coffee aroma and keeps brewing at the optimum temperature. The controls on this coffeemaker are few and simple. They consist of separate illuminated power switches for each side of the coffeemaker and a button that slows the brewing cycle down when brewing less than three cups (works on the left side of the coffeemaker only). Each of the thermal glass carafes is double insulated to keep beverages hot for hours and includes plastic screw-top lids for additional heat retention. Essentially it's like two coffeemakers in one. You can use both sides, perhaps making both decaf and regular coffee, or you can use just one side. They operate independently but can be used simultaneously. The double wall thermal carafes will keep your coffee hot and fresh for hours, another reason this machine is ideal for office use and entertaining. Krups' exclusive Deep Brew system has special filtering action for maximum flavor with minimum bitterness. There is also a special design of the heating and tubing system which minimizes calcification and leaves no residual water when the brewing cycle is completed.

My coffee maker broke after 5 months. I was pouring the water in one morning and the water came straight out the bottom of the coffee maker. The only redeeming quality of the coffee maker at this point is that the other side didn't leak. I could still make coffee for breakfast.

Another hassle is that you have to rinse the caraffe with warm and then hot water after filling the coffee maker or the thermos could break.

We had one of these in a hotel apartment, and I have to say, it makes some of the most delicious coffee. The fact that the coffee ends up in a carafe and not burning on the heating element is one factor.

If you have a small office, or have two heavy coffee drinkers, one caffeinated and one decaf, or one flavored and one plain, this is a wonderful thing. If you entertain a lot, it is absolutely useful--so much easier than having to make two batches and pour off into a serving carafe.

What a wonderful coffeemaker! I love it because now I can make two different kind of coffee at the same time whether it be different flavors, decaf/regular, or even hot water for tea/hot chocolate. The insulated carafes allow me to turn the machine off as soon as the brewing is done. Great!!
