5.0 out of 5 stars Makes delicious coffee
We had one of these in a hotel apartment, and I have to say, it makes some of the most delicious coffee. The fact that the coffee ends up in a carafe and not burning on the heating element is one factor.

If you have a small office, or have two heavy coffee drinkers, one caffeinated and one decaf, or one flavored and one plain, this is a wonderful thing. If you entertain...

1.0 out of 5 stars Mine broke after 5 months
My coffee maker broke after 5 months. I was pouring the water in one morning and the water came straight out the bottom of the coffee maker. The only redeeming quality of the coffee maker at this point is that the other side didn't leak. I could still make coffee for breakfast.

Another hassle is that you have to rinse the caraffe with warm and then hot water after filling the coffee maker or the thermos could break.

If you have a small office, or have two heavy coffee drinkers, one caffeinated and one decaf, or one flavored and one plain, this is a wonderful thing. If you entertain a lot, it is absolutely useful--so much easier than having to make two batches and pour off into a serving carafe.

5.0 out of 5 stars I love it !!!, January 23, 2004

This review is from: Krups 270-42 DuoThek Thermal 8-Cup Coffeemaker, Black (Kitchen)
What a wonderful coffeemaker! I love it because now I can make two different kind of coffee at the same time whether it be different flavors, decaf/regular, or even hot water for tea/hot chocolate. The insulated carafes allow me to turn the machine off as soon as the brewing is done. Great!!

2.0 out of 5 stars Upgraded Mr Coffee, January 5, 2004

If you want two Mr Coffee coffee makers joined at the hip then the overpriced overrated Krups 270-42 is the one to buy. This product was a disappointment right out of the box. The unit was not wrapped in a protective plastic cover and was covered from stem to stern with a haze. The instructions refer to a red sticker to differentiate decaf from regular if desired but no sticker existed. The referenced Krups measuring spoon was also missing. Since there are no accessories available to buy the assumption is that the spoon was to be included, guess again. Finally, and the straw that broke the camel's back is the absence of an automatic shutoff. Net net an expensive Mr Coffee.

On the positive side, if you follow the instuctions to a tee the coffee is not bad.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great idea, bad execution, December 22, 2005
This review is from: Krups 270-42 DuoThek Thermal 8-Cup Coffeemaker, Black (Kitchen)
I bought this coffeemaker because my husband is a certified caffeine addict and I am off the stuff because of my headaches. The idea of having two brews at once was an exciting one. It also comes in handy when guests arrive because we can brew twice the amount of coffee at once. The drawback, though, and the reason I will be getting rid of the machine is that the coffee just doesn't taste as good as it should. This is probably because the water is NOT THAT HOT during brewing and yes, sometimes it does have to be heated in the microwave which totally ruins the flavor. I'm only giving it three stars because the idea and engineering is pretty good...but the quality of the brew is the bottom line and that, sadly, is lacking.

4.0 out of 5 stars Krups 270-42 Coffeemaker, October 9, 2005

Overall, it is a decent product. The fit where the pot slides under the brew dispenser is a little inflexible and snug causing it to be slightly forced into position. The coffee is good. It could use something to distinguish between regular and decaf coffee.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Concept!, February 21, 2006
We really like this coffee maker. My husband is a dyed-in-the wool straight coffee drinker. I like my coffee beans flavored. This way we have the best of both worlds, and there is still hot coffee left to take to work a couple of hours later. The water COULD be hotter to start with, but, with this being the only complaint, this coffee maker is a great product for the couple who likes different coffees!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for two coffee types!, January 28, 2008
This review is from: Krups 270-42 DuoThek Thermal 8-Cup Coffeemaker, Black (Kitchen)
We ordered this for our small office so we could have one pot for decaf and one pot for regular. It has worked great for over a year now. The carafes keep the coffee nice and hot for quite a while. It is even still warm when we've forgotten it overnight! Really easy to clean also.

I like the two pot ideal. The carafe does pour very nicely. But it does not keep the the coffee hot.The coffee carafe with the coffee and filter is very awkward too place under the pot.

1.0 out of 5 stars Does not keep coffee hot, February 25, 2006
I was very surprised and disappointed with this product. The thermal carafes do not keep the coffee hot beyond a few minutes.

I would advise anyone interested in this type of product to pick another brand.
