Krups = Kraps,

Well if I could give it zero starts I would. The timer knob felt cheap from the start and within 3 weeks, it was done. Broken, and like an idiot I didn't have the receipt. Krups said tough luck and I say, I'll never buy Krups again.Poor quality!

This product is a major disappointment. It looks very nice, but its beauty is only skin deep. I haven't used the broiler, but the toaster is bad enough that I've already decided to sell the product. I'm serious when I say that a butane lighter would probably toast better than this product. Typically it either toasts only on one side or burns both sides. There is a range on the dial that produces nicely toasted bread, but it is so small that I'm only able to hit it about 1/3 of the time. Spend more money if you have to, you'll save it back in bread. I've thrown away the equivalent of one loaf already in burned toast!

Its almost like there is a warranty timer built into this unit. The day after, it simply stops working. It is a so so toaster, but not great. The rotary knobs and timers are sort of junky. But now, as it no longer works 1 year and 1 day after we bought it, and Krups will not fix it, I will no longer buy another Krups product as long as I live. They are aweful.

I received this as a Christmas gift last year, and it broke within 3 weeks; the cheap timer blew a circuit, and I ended up throwing the unit out. A relative got the exact same product, and his TOO broke within three weeks. I'd never touch a Krups product again. It is obvious that this company pulled a fast one on the unsuspecting public. Never again, though.

Toaster Oven Died After 10 Months,
By
This review is from: Krups 297-45 Pro Chef Premium Toaster Oven (Kitchen)
I bought this toaster oven in August 2005. I read the reviews of this product AFTER I bought it. I was concerned about all the complaints of the toaster oven dying out around 1 year after purchase, but hoped mine would be different. Well mine's not. I am here to say that my toaster oven by Krups just completely quit working too (only 10 months later)! Krups should be ashamed of themselves, it's aparent there is a problem. Now I'm stuck with an expensive toaster oven that doesn't work and I can't find the reciept. I'm not going to bother contacting Krups after hearing all the hassles of sending it to get repaired and waiting 6 months, and then finally get it back for it to only work for 1 week. I will NEVER buy a Krups product again. The only way Krups can redeem themselves is if they do a recall. I'm sure they are not going to since they haven't already! What a shame. This product doesn't deserve even 1 star.

I have had this item for 1 year and 2 months. It has just stopped working. I only use it a few times a week (making toast). I always clean it, and I have always babied it. Now, the power works, but the elements quit heating up. I should have bought a $12 toaster rather than this piece of junk. It doesnt toast properly (burns one side or under toasts both - take your pick). Dont buy this oven. If you do, dont say I didnt warn you.

Not worth the shipping charges--which were free!,

DOESN'T DESERVE A STAR--PERIOD!!! Three DIFFERENT people in my family purchased this oven at the same time for their use. Out of the three ovens, NONE of them are currently working. They ALL died within 15-18 months after purchase. Nice for Krups who doesn't have to repair them since they are OUT OF WARRANTY AFTER ONE YEAR. WOULDN'T HAVE ANOTHER ONE EVEN IF YOU GAVE ONE TO EACH OF US!!!! AVOID THIS APPLIANCE.....

Hi. After a very long search for my idea of the "perfect" toaster oven, I happened upon this one, Model 297. It had the 6-slice capacity, the flat front and top, easy clean interior AND the room for cooking a pizza or a chicken. I thought, Wow, after a 2-yr search, this is the one. I was so thrilled!!
I got home, and first of all it was a constant battle to get the toast right -- either too light or too dark. The controls were very cheap-feeling and unpredictable, and to make toast required remembering to set two dials, also. (And you need glasses, as there's only a tiny recessed "pimple" to indicate the starting point on the controls.) I figured that might take time to get used to and was prepared to accept that. Also, there was no way to tell when the oven was preheated to your selected temp.(no bell, no light on or off, etc.). Also, although it allows for the size for cooking pizza, there is no way to control the heat flow, so according to the instructions you must stand over it and be prepared to rotate the pizza several times while it cooks, which can take up to a half hour. I never did get a properly cooked pizza out of it - either undercooked or overcooked the moment I turned away. However, I actually got to make a grilled cheese sandwich in it one day and thought that maybe I was on the right track. After 2 years without a toaster oven and 3 months without a toaster, I decided to try to stiff it out and keep this one, faults and all. Then, less than 2 weeks after setting it up, the heating elements just plain DIED!! The light was on, but it was absolutely stone cold! Tried different outlets, let it rest and started from scratch -- NOTHING !!! So, here I am, back to Square One. I'm on my way to lug this thing back to the store. I'm disabled, so this is a big deal to have to do. And, after reading the other reviews on Amazon for this and similar models, I've decided I'm not even going to ask for a replacement. Clearly, this is not a fluke -- these and similar Krups toaster ovens have the same M.O. -- they work for a little while and then drop dead. I'm so very disappointed. I suspect that the few decent reviews I read were referring to older, more reliable models. Clearly, whether black or white, the regular or premium model, it just doesn't matter. They for the most part cease to operate early on in the game. Please, save yourself the aggravation -- try another brand, or at least another line.

Over 3 years of use and still going strong,

I had been browsing through the ovens section to find a moderately priced toaster oven as a housewarming gift when I stumbled across this Krups unit. I couldn't help but notice these horrible reviews of the oven that I have owned for over 3 years that has produced nothing but quality meals each and every time. Last night, I cooked a pizza that was a foot in diameter and made corn muffins immediately following that. You can count on the quality of this oven, trust me...

Krups, you gotta be kidding!,

After being in storage for over a year, waiting to move into our new house, this toaster oven unit succeeded in lasting for only 5 months. Due to the length of time that it was stored, the warranty has run out and I see no reason to try and fix it. The dials are impractical and the oven racks misaligned. Toast came out fine, but now the heating unit doesn't work on the top or bottom. Look at the overall sales ranking in Kitchen and Home for this item! In the 30,000s at the time of this review. Let the buyer beware! There are better toaster ovens out there. I am going for the Cuisinart Classic - 5 stars and #80 ranking.
