Good basic coffee maker at a good price. The perminant coffee filter is a cost,time and effort saving feature and once you have a coffee maker with one, you will never want to go back to paper filters again.

In reality, I had a maker with a timer on it and never used it. I like the fact I can put fresh water in a machine in the morning and the short wait for that first cup is not a problem. Coffee usually tastes better because it is minute fresh and hasn't sat for any length of time as it may if you did use a timer and weren't there at the set time.

One feature I would like would be a warmer turn off timer. This way if forgotten, the warmer plate would go off in a selected time and not burn your brew.

The machine makes a little more noise than my old Braun but that can be viewed as a plus. You know when the coffee is ready when the audiable brewing stops. It is not a lot of noise and not a big concern.

This coffee maker makes excellent coffee! We have been drinking much more coffee since we got it. It is very easy to use, too.

Some of the other reviews are apparently for the 453, which appears to be identical to the 452 except for the controls. This model has only two switches. One switch is the power switch, and the other switch selects either 1-3 cups or 4-12 cups. There are no other controls on this model. This does make the coffee maker very easy to use!

The filter basket swings out for easy filling. It is also easy to pour water into the reservoir, and the water level indicator is easy to read. The coffee maker comes with a charcoal water filter, but I have not used that since I use water from a Brita water filter to make the coffee.

The carafe does not drip at all. Also, I have not noticed any coffee dripping onto the warming plate when the pot is removed.

Cleanup is easy. The filter basket lifts out easily. The carafe, lid, filter basket, and goldtone filter can all be washed in the dishwasher.

Overall, I think this is an excellent coffee maker. I use freshly ground beans (medium grind), 0.2 ounces (by weight) for each 5-ounce cup of coffee, and I get good, strong coffee without bitterness. You may need to adjust the grind or amount of coffee depending on your personal preferences, of course.

This coffee pot really brews an excellent tasting cup of coffee. I have returned three coffee pots so far including a Bunn trying to find a coffee pot that will brew rich tasting coffee. This little guy works great. Wife loves the small footprint on the countertop and it looks attractive as well. I was not looking to pay for bells and whistles I would not use so this pot fits that bill just fine. I did not give it a five star rating because I do wish the coffee was hotter. I absolutely disagree with the reviewer who said this pot is a piece of junk, this is a well-designed, middle to upper grade quality coffee pot that brews excellent tasting coffee.

I couldn't be happier with my first Krups coffeemaker. I just tossed out a $100+ coffee maker that made so so lukewarem coffee and would shut off 15 minutes after brewing so I had to keep turning it back on. My Krups does not have an auto shut off so my coffee stays HOT. The temp of the coffee is not so hot that I can't drink it, but hot enought keep me happy. The coffee is great, much better then the other 2 brands I've had in the past. I've had no problems with this coffeemaker. No leaks, no drips...just a great cup of coffee. It doesn't seem to matter what kind of coffee I use, cheap brands or expensive beans - great coffee no matter what.

I would say to anyone...BUY THIS COFFEE MAKER.

Having owned many different brands of coffee makers (Braun, Mr Coffee, etc) over the years, I've come to the conclusion that Krups coffee makers produce the best tasting cup of coffee. Many of the other brands do not seem to brew hot enough. Krups now includes water filtration with this newer model. This sounds great in theory, but I cannot say I notice a big difference in taste. This model is very aggressively priced and cuts out all the useless bells and whistles that I never use. Contrary to what other customers have said, I have never had a problem with a Krups product before. I highly recommend this product.

We've only had this coffee maker for a few weeks, but we are reasonably happy with it so far. The biggest plus is that we haven't had chewy coffee with this machine. We've had two different Mr Coffee's and a Hamilton Beach, and all three allowed the water to fill in the basket until grounds spilled over and into the caraf. We also like the fact that this maker can be adjusted for smaller batches of coffee. However, given the price, it's hard to understand why it doesn't have an automatic shut-off or a clock.

First I need to say that I am not a coffee drinker -- can't stand the stuff, personally. But my mom thought that I should have a coffee maker in case people we entertain would like a cup after dinner or whatever. And it's been very useful in that regard. I can adjust howhot I want the coffee, and it lets me adjust how many cups I'll need, which helps when I'm only making coffee for two! It also keeps made coffee reasonably warm without boiling it all away and ruining the pot. I have the gold filter, which saves me money because I don't have to keep buying paper filters and I always have a filter available in case of last-minute company. It's easy to clean, also... just make sure the pot has fully cooled before washing it! My husband stuck a hot pot under cold water, and CRACK! ....

I purchased a Krups Pro Aroma Plus coffee maker from Amazon because the previous Krups machine we had owned for over a decade worked so well and produced great coffee. Sadly, the new machine arrived with a bent bottom so it wobbled badly. Despite its $80 price tag, it was clearly made of cheap, light-weght plastic (much flimsier than our old Krups machine). The owners manual is printed on flimsy brown paper and difficult to read. The coffeemaker arrived covered in dust inside the manufacturer's box. Amazon's return label was removed - suggesting someone-else had already returned it. Several years ago, we had the same experience with a Krups espresso machine : The original machine we bought in 1980 had worked perfectly for over 10 years. So we decided to go with Krups to replace it. After three replacements in 18 months, we gave up and bought a Gaggia instead. Clearly, Krups drip coffee machines have sunk in quality in the same way.
Our advice : Do NOT buy Krups coffee-makers of any kind. Krups used to make high quality machines - but not any more.

We received this coffeemaker as a wedding gift. It worked great and made great coffee for two years. Then suddenly the digital display went blank and we could only get it to turn on sporadically. It seems that the coffee-making function is perfectly fine but something is wrong with it electronically. We took it to a repair shop and they claimed it was a problem with the thermostat and said they had just replaced the thermostat on 5 other Krups coffeemakers. However that didn't solve the problem - the digital display immediately went out again. We are now going to shop for a coffeemaker with fewer bells and whistles so we can count on a longer lifetime. Just wanted to warn other shoppers about this one.

I just wrote up a return for this coffee maker after having received it less than a couple of hours ago. The unit is defective, it won't feed the water through to the carafe. I've been a Krups fan for many years and have owned several of their coffeemakers and when they work, they're excellent. This product "appeared" to me to be re-conditioned as the exterior had scratches which shouldn't be on a brand new product. If you do buy this product, I advise you to attend to it the first time you attempt to use it. Due to the defect, the water sits in the back of the unit and begins to boil, this caused a large portion of the water to spew out over the lid and could have been dangerous with the unit so close to an outlet.
