This is my first electric tea kettle and I have to say that I'm in love. The water heats quickly, the kettle has a large capacity and the automatic shut-off makes it easy to see when the water is done. It is also a very nicely designed appliance (that's, of course, not a reason to buy kitchenwares but it is nice when they look good.) It's easy to run and the cordless feature (the kettle goes on a small hot plate) makes it very convenient to carry around. I also liked the strainer feature.I only have two problems with this kettle. It is a little bit noisy so don't be alarmed at the boiling sounds. The gauge that shows how full the kettle is is hard to read when the kettle is held at an angle, such as when you would be filling it under the tap. Other than these minor problems, I am enjoying this kettle greatly and, short of a power outage, I can't see myself going back!

From the kitchen to the dining room table,

Elegant styling and cool-to-the-touch bottom means I can heat water, pluck the kettle off the base unit, and put the it right onto the dining room table without a hot pad. This is fantastic for hot after-dinner drinks at a party. The base unit and kettle have a 360-degree attachment which allows the kettle to be connected to the base at any rotation making it easier to find a home for it in your kitchen. The base also has 'feet' so that the cord can come out of any side making it easy to located and keep the cord hidden. It's a small detail, but it shows the thought that went into the design. In addition, this teapot as all the advantages that a dedicated electric kettle has over a stovetop model: auto-shutoff (start it, jump in the shower, hot water is waiting when you get out), generally faster to boil water, and it doesn't occupy a burner nor get covered in grease splatters. The downside is that it's yet another appliance taking up counter space. So there are a few complaints: the Krups teakettle has a wide base so it does take up more of your counter than other models. We originally bought it for heating water upstairs, but found it far to big for our small bathroom. Other problems I have are that the handle is directly over the main opening making it somewhat awkward to open the lid and fill the pot. As another reviewer pointed out, the water level indicator is only good for full/empty measurements. I generally lift the kettle to see if I need to add water. I would like some audible sound when it finishes boiling. I've gotten so used to the start-it-and-leave-it that I often come back 20 minutes later having totally forgotten I was making tea. Anyhow, the problems I have with this teapot are mostly trivial and are so far outweighed by the advantages that I give it 5 stars and recommend it highly. It's a great gift for the tea-lover in your family.

I was so sick of my old kettle: handle too hot to hold, slow to boil, leaky spout - you know the drill. So, I decided to go for a quality brand and pay a little extra. The conclusion? This Krups is worth every penny. It doesn't leak, there are no dangling cords and it boils in a jiffy. And better yet - it even looks good on the counter top.A great product and thoroughly recommended.

I am a tea snob. I am not ashamed to say, I want my tea the way I want it. This kettle is perfect in every way. It's easy to fill from the spout. It is functional in pouring - well balanced. It heats a full kettle in around 5 minutes to boiling. The base houses a wrap around function so you can make the cord as long/short as you want. Oh, and it's darn attractive too ;)In short: It's perfect. You like tea made the correct way? Get this kettle. Well worth the funds to purchase it.

The good things:heats quickly performs flawlessly covered elements cool bottom very stable. The bad things: large footprint: takes up a lot of space on my desk water level indicator only accurate if the kettle is held absolutely level Because of the width of the kettle and size of the top, difficult to ill from the water cooler (I fill via the spout).

Quick, stylish, and easy to use,
This review is from: Krups 854-75 AquaStyle Cordless Electric 10-Cup Teakettle (Kitchen)
Quick and easy to use and looks stylish on the counter. I was hoping for a 'whistler,' but gave up that feature for the hardiness of this kettle. This one boils water ready for tea, dry soups, etc., in just under 5 minutes. I like the safety feature of the automatic shut off. In a busy household, it's a nice feature. It's easy to clean with the large top opening and it also has a filter. The gauge in the handle lets you know just how much water is in the kettle, so you can make just enough for one serving or a whole pot for later use.I bought it as a gift for my son who is a tea fanatic and he is very pleased with it. A little pricey, but appears to be worth it.

Outstanding in every way!! It is very fast even when filled to full. We use it for "tea" daily, which is 2 to 3 times a day. It will boil small amounts of water in seconds. Also the design is outstanding, lifting off the base makes for ease in filling and light weight. This unit is attractive on your counter, handles with ease and is a 'best buy'. We have paid over $100.00 for a kettle in the past and it was not as efficient as the Krups.

When I purchased this item, I was looking for a cordless electric kettle, with an indicator light and a fill level indicator, spout fillable for preference as I find this to be the best for ease of filling in my past experience. In addition the item needed to look modern and fashionable for the wife's kitchen. This kettle does everything I want of it, so receives full marks. Item looks beautiful, pours perfectly, heats quickly (though overfilling can lengthen the duration). Spout filling at the highest rate the tap (faucet) delivers can result in spray back, so I use a little less than full pressure. The fill indicator seems sensitive to the angle the kettle is held during filling, and usually results in slight overfilling. The kettle scale is in metric so if you live in the US you need to know that 1L is about four mugs of tea, and 1.5L is about 6 mugs. Being British and under 40, metric is fine for me. The water produced boils to be hot enough for tea, but the auto shut-off does not allow the kettle to rolling boil excessively (a complaint I had with my previous solution - a saucepan). One of the rubber feet on the base was missing when the item was delivered. After plenty of hold music, the man asked me to fax the receipt to them, and new ones would be sent. No problems with Krups service, except for annoying advertising in the aforementioned hold music. Overall, very satisfied with the product. Would recommend this item and the Krups brand in general. Not made in Germany any more though -- item clearly states it is made in China. Time to brew another pot of Tetley...

quick and easy,
This review is from: Krups 854-75 AquaStyle Cordless Electric 10-Cup Teakettle (Kitchen)
I didn't know why I needed this over my tea kettle but a few people I know have them and I love my gadgets and appliances so I tried one and we have enjoyed it very much. This kettle came recommended to me and I love it... just an easy press of a button and the water is ready in about 4 minutes...you don't have to come back to the room to shut it off, it does that by itself and keeps the water hot for quite a while. If you want to warm up the water after that it only takes about 45 to 60 seconds.

The teakettle rusted at the weld on the pour spout and inside the kettle in less than two months. Krups will charge you for the replacement shipping costs. This is not oulined in the warranty and appears to be a unilateral policy designed to squeeze the last nickel from the consumer. I concur with Lynn's review, below, for the "Customer Service Reality".
