Amazon.com Review

The Krups 0.3-cubic-foot digital convection and toaster oven performs just about every common cooking function, eliminating the need for a separate toaster or microwave and cutting down on the power costs of using a full-size oven. Bake, broil, toast, top brown, and reheat in this compact oven with its metal and cool-touch exterior and nonstick, wipe-clean interior. The rack, which pulls out conveniently when the door is opened, holds six standard slices of bread or four large slices.

An electronic touch pad makes operation easy. First push the Select button for toast, broil, bake, or convection, then the Time/Temp button for clock, timer, or temperature (up to 500 degrees F). Up and down arrows adjust the settings. The timer can be used alone when the oven is not in use. Lastly, push the Start/Stop button to start the cooking process or cut it short. For safety, the oven automatically shuts off after 45 minutes on broil and 1 hour 30 minutes on bake and convection. Included with the oven is an enameled broiler tray and bake pan, each measuring 8 by 10 inches. Overall, the oven measures 17 by 11 by 8 inches, and is covered by a one-year warranty. --Ann Bieri

3.0 out of 5 stars Looks and works great, not practical for everyday use, November 17, 2004
This review is from: Krups FBE212 Convection Digital Toaster Oven, Matte Black and Silver (Kitchen)
This unit cooks and toasts great. This is my first convection type toaster oven and I love it. The stainless steel look blends in very well with modern kitchens. But it has the following drawbacks:
-Pretty loud - when you touch a button (any button) the thing beeps loudly. So if you are making toast first thing in the morning, you will wake everyone in the house up. (I immediately ripped out beeping thing from the circuit board, not recommended for the electrically challenged!)
- The cooking does not stop when you open the door.
- If sitting on the kitchen counter, you have to stoop down to see into the unit through the glass door.
- You have to virtually flip the machine over to empty the bottom hinged crumb tray.
- The unit has a digital clock. Just another clock you have to set after a power outage. A toaster oven really doesn't need a digital clock AND a digital timer, but that is my opinion.
On the flip side, the digital accuracy for selecting a baking temperature is much better than a knob configuration.
In summary, I expected more practical functionality in a unit that I paid this much for.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good product for everyday use, March 20, 2005

Great item for a single person, not sure how it would hold up for a large family - would be too small to be useful.

I received the Krups convection oven for Christmas, and it's become one of the few kitchen appliances that I use on a regular basis, definitly more than I use my stove! So far, it's been great for toast, reheating pizza and frozen foods. I tried baking pre-made frozen cookies and it didn't do so well. I found that it took alot longer than the package said and the cookies were slightly burnt although they still didn't look done. (But it could have been the cookies, frozen cookies suck anyway)

I agree with the other reviewer, the beeping is very loud and annoying. You can't set it to toast or cook something without hearing at least 5 to 10 loud beeps, but it wakes you better than a cup of coffee=)

All in all, it's a quality, heavy duty product that I use everyday and can't live with out.

3.0 out of 5 stars Too digital, August 29, 2005
This review is from: Krups FBE212 Convection Digital Toaster Oven, Matte Black and Silver (Kitchen)
After my Delong died after 1 month, I got a Krupps. Even though it did have a clock and all that beeping, it was a much better toaster oven.
However, after 2 weeks of light use, the light went out. That made the toaster oven unusable, because I could not see if I was toasting, broiling or what. So that has to go back too.
I would get another one - causiously though. Just too much electronics
