It's smarter than my roomate! somehow cheaper too!, November 5, 2001
This review is from: Krups FDH112-70 Rice Cooker with 8-Cup Capacity (Kitchen)
Well I am a college student who loves rice, this means two things, I cannot afford a really expensive rice cooker and I eat a lot, a lot. The price of this thing was shocking, especially for its HUGE 8-cup capacity; I was looking at cookers that were well over $60 dollars for only 5-cup capacity. I was very hestitant to make the purchase thinking this thing might be a piece of (bad stuff)-I knew Krups only made oustanding products but (...) Well, I finally gave in and bought it, the thing has a BRAIN I tell yah! I put the rice in with the 'special made cup', then fill up to the line with water, click the button, and that is it!!! it measures the weight of the rice+water and decides the cooking times! I only use Jasmine rice (the best, imported from Thailand) and it is some of the best DAMN rice I have ever eaten (and I eat it every day). So get on your horse or computer or whatever and buy it--Next I need to get a rice dispenser to hold the 25pounds of rice I purchase every few months (...)

This rice cooker makes the best rice ever!, February 19, 2003
This review is from: Krups FDH112-70 Rice Cooker with 8-Cup Capacity (Kitchen)
This rice cooker makes the best rice ever! I suggest using good basmati rice. Clean up was great because of the no stick coating on the inside of the pot, (our old rice cooker was just an aluminum pot and most unpleasant to wash, we finally burned it out). The crusty bits you get on the bottom mix back into the rice with a little stirring. The price is a little high for a rice cooker but you get what you pay for. Oddly enough, the whistling noise it made as the rice was cooking drove our cats crazy. Cooking tip: Normally when my wife and I make rice we always cook 1 part rice to 2 parts water. For this cooker we have backed the amount of water down just a little, 1 part rice to 1 ¾ water. Also add a pinch of salt. Our best results came with making as big a batch as possible, (using the measuring cup supplied, 7 basmati rice, 13 water). Another cooking tip: Find a local Indian grocery market. Their rice is the best and cheaper too!

Good Rice, April 3, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Krups FDH112-70 Rice Cooker with 8-Cup Capacity (Kitchen)
There are several features about this rice make that I enjoy. First, is the price. It cleans up beautifully and makes good rice. The only problem is that the bottom of the rice gets kind of dry and crusty after it has been kept warm quite awhile.
