Product Description

Amazon.com Review

A chunky little countertop unit, the Krups ToastSupreme Compact Toaster handles frozen bread, fresh bagels, and browning preferences from light to dark. Though neither the sleekest nor the sturdiest model on the market, the toaster is a fine average-use model with some of the features of higher end machines.

Outfitted with extra-wide slots, the toaster automatically centers bread slices for even exposure to the elements. A raising lever lets you lift finished toast up to an easily graspable level, and a stop function allows you to cancel any toasting program instantly. The defrost setting gently warms bread to thaw it before toasting, while the bagel setting toasts the cut side of a bagel and simply warms the crust. Tidy LED indicators illuminate the settings and power button, and a basic dial controls the six browning levels. Encased in plastic housing that stays cool to the touch, the toaster includes automatic shut-off, hidden cord storage, and a full-length slide-out crumb tray. It measures 7-3/4 by 11 by 7-3/4 inches and comes with a one-year warranty. --Emily Bedard

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Toaster - I love it!, May 27, 2003

This review is from: Krups FEC211-70 Toast Supreme Compact Toaster, White (Kitchen)
I bought this toaster because of it's funky retro-look and its compact size. I was happy to find that it toasts bread evenly and consistently, is easy to clean out, and overall performs very well. I would recommend this toaster to anyone looking for a small-sized toaster (it holds no more than 2 regular sized pieces of bread--if you have big bread you need to squeeze it in).

1.0 out of 5 stars Awful, February 6, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Krups FEC211-70 Toast Supreme Compact Toaster, White (Kitchen)
I bought this toaster on the strength of Krups' reputation, but it was a big mistake. Straight out of the box, I toasted three slices of bread (two together, then one alone); they were burnt on the bottom and nearly white at the top -- and that was on a low setting. I promptly exchanged it for a Cuisinart CPT-160. The extra money seems to have been worth it -- so far, it makes beautiful toast.

2.0 out of 5 stars Looks Great, Not a Terrific Toaster., April 8, 2003
By A Customer
I am a little disappointed with the Krups Toast Supreme Compact Toaster. It has some really nice features like a pull out crumb tray and several settings like defrost and bagels. The sleek design looks great on the counter and it is easy to clean. That said, not once since I unpacked it has anything been evenly toasted and the elements inside do not glow uniformly, bread slices are really dark on the bottom and not toasted at the upper centers. This toaster feels and sounds cheaply made, and I am dreading sending it for service. I wish instead, I could exchange it for something that works better and isn't such a lightweight. I expected better from Krups and can't recommend this toaster.
