Very good -- almost,

This review is from: Krups Coffee Maker & Grinder
I've been using this product for a few weeks now and in general, I am happy with it. It does make good coffee. Also, the conical burr grinder is quiet compared to other coffee grinders I have used and it produces a consistent grind. Futhermore, this coffee maker uses the V-type filters instead of the flat-bottom filters that Cuisinart and Capresso use which gives it an inherent advantage over those 2 products.
There are 2 main shortcomings as far as I am concerned. First, I make only a few cups of coffee at at time and the coffee is not hot enough (I use powdered whitener instead of half and half so I don't cool it off). Secondly, when using the grinder, it does not produce enough grinds to make strong coffee. I find that setting cups to 10 and strength to 'strong' will make good coffee for 6 to 8 cups at most. I usually make 2 cups of coffee at at time so I set it to 4 cups and 'strong'. That seems to work OK. One other issue I have is it leaves grinds in the passage from the grinder to coffee basket. Fortunately, the cover to this passage is easily accessible and removable so it is not much work to interrupt the brewing process to clean the grinds into the coffee basket before continuing with brewing. To me, this is much less annoying than cleaning a separate coffee grinder after use. All in all, a good but not great product.

Fantastic Coffee, Unreliable,

This coffee maker made the finest cup of coffee I have ever produced myself. Unfortunately, the heating element went out once and had to be repaired. About 3 months later the new element freaked out and heated the carafe hot enough to give me a second degree burn on my arm in about 2 nanoseconds. At that point I gave up. I still dream about the delicious coffee this beast produces.

Purchased a Krups KM 7000 Pro Grinder Brewer. It lasted 6 months then the pump went. Took it in for warranty repair. Took over a month to do the repair so in the interim had purchased another coffee maker. Did not use the Krups KM 7000 Pro Grinder Brewer until recently. Made one pot of coffee then it leaked water all over the counter for each pot thereafter. Tried to get satisfaction through the service facility and Krups but they refused since the unit was now out of warranty. VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE FROM KRUPS AND WARRANTY SERVICE. This is a very expensive unit. The most I had ever paid for what I had hoped would be the best coffee pot I had ever bought. It has turned out to be the worst and feel that I need to try and warn others.

Expensive Junk,
This review is from: Krups Coffee Maker & Grinder
Great cup of coffee but after owning for 18 months it has broken three times. The 1st two times I sent it for repair, waited approx. 2 months to get it back. This time I'm not dealing with it. As dozens of other people have complained, it grinds and then won't circulate water or heat. Researching the net revealed the problem is two inexpensive (about $1.50 each) and cheaply made thermal fuses that are not user serviceable. Don't waste your money on this product.

Sorry we invested in this machine,

Purchased the coffee maker from a gourmet kitchen shop (wished we had paid amazon's price). The coffee pot spills all over the counter if you do not pour it at the perfect angle. We were not satisfied with the product, tried to return it but the gourmet kitchen shop had gone out of business (go figure). After 14 months the product just stopped working. When I contacted Krups Customer service they instructed me to ship the unit back at my cost, also there would be an intial $25.00 bench fee charge just to open the box when the shipment arrived. I have gone back to my 10 year old West Bend and will never purchase another Krups product.

Late developing problems,
This review is from: Krups Coffee Maker & Grinder
We were initially happy with our grinder/coffee maker. It was a little messy but it made very good coffee. After 8 months the heater element burned out. We sent it in for servicing and now, ten weeks later we still haven't received it back. Now there is nothing more essential to coffeemakers than this element and why the repair facility can't get one more quickly than this, I just can't understand. If I had it to do over again, I would get a good cone burr grinder and a Mr. Coffee.

Stopped Working,

I loved it at first, but it just died. It turns on, I can select all the settings, the grinder grinds the beans, but it doesn't heat or move the water through the machine to the coffee grounds. I have had it about 15 months, but I only use it once a week so that really only comes to about 60 uses. After reading the other reviews here, I can see that I am out of luck with the company. I will try to return it but I am not paying $25 for them to open the box and look at it and do nothing. What a joke! I will never buy Krups again. With the limited times I used it compared to what I paid for it ($130 plus filters, beans, etc.) it almost would have been cheaper to pay the premium of getting Starbucks coffees once a week! And what a hassle and waste of time for all my research and effort.
