This is the best mix for pancakes and waffles. Nothing else compares.

But paying $24.50 is outrageous. I buy this at Sam's Club for $6.38!

For over 20 years, we've been using Krusteaz to make waffles for our Sunday waffle feast. It's a ritual.

This week I opened a new bag and made first batch. Yuck! They were tough, chewy, and dry. I checked the recipe, tried a second batch. Then a third. Even my husband gathered up the courage to tell me they were terrible. Nobody asked for seconds, and I usually can never make them fast enough.

Knowing something was wrong, I checked the bag. Sure enough!! "New and Improved Recipe"!! Right on the top of the bag. It might be new, but if you use this mix for waffles, be warned : IT IS NOT GOOD!!!!

Next week we're trying Bisquick, and if that doesn't work, it's back to homemade!

This is the 10 lb bag....of yuck.

I'm a bit of a pancake snob and I love Krusteaz. I mix the batter to the consistency I want - no measuring - and let the batter sit for about 20-30 minutes. I butter my cast iron skillet and let it get hot enough (key to perfect pancakes) - You can't put pancake batter in a warm pan or you end up with "blonde" pancakes that are flavorless. Put the batter in the pan, don't even think about touching it until the edges start drying and there are lots of bubbles on top. I usually add some sliced bananas before I flip (If I haven't mashed them up and added them to the mix before letting the mix rest). Flip and let cook for another minute or so. Put them on a tray and while they are still hot I put Smart Balance or butter and cover completely. They continue to steam and when you're ready to eat them they are perfect. No syrup needed if you use bananas.

I have a pancake junkie in my house and this, by FAR, is the absolute best mix available on the market. It's just so very light, just like cake flour when you use it. The only one i've found that's better is the Pioneer brand and that's only sold in the South. Being a Northerner, I just have to suffer through but this brand is a very close second. It's SO easy just to make one pancake too - just 1/2 cup of this and a 1/4 cup of water and it's in the pan! Great for busy school mornings, especially with chocolate chips. I also add an egg into the mix to give it more protein so the kids can make it to lunch without starving. Great, great product, LOVE it! Highly recommend!

This stuff is wonderful. I have always been amazed at how great the taste when all you add is water. You can use it for waffels by just adding a bit less water for the thicker batter.

This like all Krusteaz products is simply outstanding, which can't be said for most "add water only" mixes. It is particularly well suited for a really large family or a vacation cottage not continually used. Kids actually prefer this to time consuming scratch 'cakes, although adding a few fresh berries, a little corn or oatmeal is popular, too. Only poor packing that resulted in minor spillage prevents a five star review.

I guess that explains it, I bought this 10lb bag locally (not in the US) and when I made it - blehhh. We usually only get Betty Crocker and Aunt Jemima which are both good, but this was so bland! I have to add salt, sugar and vanilla to make it taste like anything, and then I butter my skillet. I came here to see what others had to say and I guess "New & Improved" is not so much. Sigh, 7lbs more to go, won't buy again.
