5.0 out of 5 stars Great product
This is a great product for scrapbookers like myself who enjoy preserving trip mementos other than photos. For example, if you visit a city and pick up a street map, or if you save a brochure from the hotel you stayed at, you can use this spray to make them acid free. Then you can add them to your scrapbook pages without concern that they will make your entire page...

2.0 out of 5 stars There is a less toxic product
Like other reviewers, I am sensitive to toxic smells. Other family history researchers who have personal archives have told me that Bookeeper Deacidification Spray, while more costly, does not produce the toxic aromas. Bookkeeper is effective on extending the life of newspapers in particular and other paper products with acid content. Bookkeeper contains no CFCs or HCFCs...

This is a great product for scrapbookers like myself who enjoy preserving trip mementos other than photos. For example, if you visit a city and pick up a street map, or if you save a brochure from the hotel you stayed at, you can use this spray to make them acid free. Then you can add them to your scrapbook pages without concern that they will make your entire page eventually turn yellow. I've been using for several years and have yet to see any yellowing on anything I've used it on.

Tips for Use: The spray is easy to use, just like spray paint. Just make sure you find a ventilated area to use it, or take it outside to let the fumes dissipate. I suggest saving a giant piece of cardboard to use again and again under your documents. This will protect whatever floor or table surface you're spraying on, since this spray does leave a bit of a white residue.

5.0 out of 5 stars Essential for preserving documents, February 25, 2009

I bought this product to preserve newspapers that have historical significance. If you have ever watched a newspaper clipping turn yellow over time, it is due to the acidic quality of the paper. This product is essential if you wish to preserve these important works from yellowing or aging. I found that the 6oz size is more economical than the 3oz, and will usually cover up to 20 full-size newspaper pages. I would suggest using a pH testing pen first on your document to determine whether it needs treatment with this product, as some paper has a neutral pH.

I was really looking forward to spraying my newspaper with this spray. I have lots of memories invested in my papers! So I sprayed it and it worked out just fine! I think I'll have to wait twenty years to see if it worked, though!

2.0 out of 5 stars Noxious Chemical Odor And Causes Cancer, October 14, 2010

"Known by the State of California to Cause Cancer" is actually printed on the back of the can. With two to three quick sprays I knew I couldn't use this stuff. The smell, even in a ventilated area, is overbearing. This is the first archival product I've purchased so I might be a little harsh. I just couldn't stand this product. It made me feel nauseated using it.
