Time consuming installation, otherwise great,

The installation is not particularly hard, but it is time consuming. I wore out a cheap hammer drill that I had borrowed from a friend on the first hole, and ended up purchasing my own to finish the job - I used this: Makita HP1641K 5/8-Inch Hammer Drill Kit and it still took a few hours. I also wore out the masonry bits that came with the anchor and had to buy a second set. The anchor holes are pretty big - 5/8 inch diameter - so a cheap hammer drill may not be sufficient. Renting a drill is an option to consider.
A couple of other notes regarding installation: don't forget to wear ear protection! I was stupid and didn't, resulting in hearing impairment for the next 1-2 days. Also, carefully consider placement of the anchor - this seems obvious, but consider how you will be using it. I use it to lock up two bicycles inside my garage in conjunction with Kryptonite New York Fahgettaboutit 1415 Chain Bicycle Lock with New York Disc 5 Lock Chain Bicycle Lock, and I placed it fairly close (less than 6 inches) from a wall. I wish I had actually mounted it a little further from the wall, because to secure both bikes with the chain through the frames and front wheels, I end up having to reach underneath the bikes to lock/unlock them, which is cumbersome - it would have been much easier if the anchor was further from the wall. Lastly, make sure the holes are deep enough to accommodate the anchors before attempting to insert them - the fit is snug and they are difficult to remove if you find that you have to drill the hole deeper. Otherwise, it works as advertised.

Good Product, but you will need a hammer Drill,

Okay so I got this product to put on my Patio. It seems tough and came with two Drill bits. After about 45 minutes with a standard drill and destroying a bit. I went and got another bit which I also destroyed but was able to finish 1 of the 3 holes. Frustrated, Back to the hardware store I went...Talked to a sales guy and he said if I bought a Hammer Drill I would be done in less than 10 minutes. So I bought one and was able to drill the last two holes in five minutes, Installed it and I am happy. Cheaper hammer Drills are running about 60 bucks. If you are planning on using this on concrete its a good idea. So if you want to install this borrow or buy a Hammer drill if you need to. It will save you a headache.

It works great,
i don't know why the other guy would carry it around. it's not meant to be portable. you're supposed to secure it to the ground at your house or a permanent location. basically you drill the concrete, attached the lag bolts, put the cover on and that's it. then you use a kryptonite chain or something comparable and chain up your item.

good anchor -- challenging to drill into concrete,

This is a good anchor at a good price, but understand that drilling 3 holes, 5/8" wide, 2" deep in concrete, is a big, messy job that's gonna take a couple hours and test your patience. Still, it secures a motorcycle as well as can be done.

When I opened the box I was really surprised at how big the anchor was. It would definitely look intimidating to a would be thief. It works really well for attaching my bikes and the bike rack directly to the anchor. I was able to get an On Gaurd Mastiff chain lock through the shackle and around the base of the bike rack.
The only reason why this doesn't get 5 stars is due to the horrible concrete anchors that were included. When using the provided drill bits, the hole produced will be too tight to get the anchor in the hole without damaging it. The metal ring holding the flanges will get destroyed and the whole thing fell apart. Once I got the anchor back together and in the hole, I found the retaining nut inside the anchor is not flared enough to cause the flanges to expand. The nut just spins around inside the anchor. I finally got it grab by coating the bolt with enough blue loctite to leak out onto the nut (stuck inside the anchor) so that it finally grabbed. What should have been a 20 minute project ended up taking hours and causing a sick feeling that I might end up with three useless holes in my garage floor. You may want to take the bolt to a hardware store and find a better set of concrete anchors that fit the bolts that are included. This will save you some trouble in the long run.

I just moved and am now having to put the motorcycle outside and wanted something secure. The anchor is ok. Definitely use a good wired hammer drill. I borrowed a decently beefy one and it took maybe 40 seconds a hole to drill. It was surprisingly fast compared to a lot of the reviews here. Also, if you do go the rental route, make sure if the drill takes special bits or not. The one I used had special slots on the base of the bits that worked into the keyless chuck for hammer drilling. The included bits had no such slots, but luckily I had the correct size bits for it.
Installation is pretty straight forward. Hammering in the sleeve/screw combos was a little sketchy though. The directions said to hammer it in with the inner screw in place. There is basically a sleeve with a nut in the base and a longer allen headed bolt that threads down in and expands it into place. The nut one one of them popped thru a bit when hammering it down into the hole so it could not be threaded into once the anchor was in place. That was frustrating as it makes that hole a bit less useful. The other ones went in a bit better, though the top collar around where you hammer in came off on both of them, but you could still tap it down in as long as you got each of the four sides going down evenly. Getting the three holes perfectly lined up was also difficult, though I think being slightly off ended up making it more secure with the lack of nut on the one hole. I had to hit in the tightening screws with a hammer and then screw them in. I think this ended up good though with the tension against the threads and concrete helping to hold it in and making an attempt at even just screwing out the anchor bolts that much more complicated. The little ball bearings to put into the allen head top was a nice touch as well. The device feels pretty secure and combined with a big heavy kryptonite lock and chain will definitively make taking the bike a lot more difficult and make thieves move on to an easier target. For the quick 30 min install time needed it's decent. If I had more time or if I owned where I was installing it and was planning on using it for many many years I might look into something more permanent that could be cemented in either when pouring the slab or by cutting out a big piece and then pouring in a big curved upside down macaroni looking metal pipe sunken under the concrete that a chain could be run thru so it would be flush and there wouldn't be something that could be pryed up. I would be curious to try on this anchor to hook up a winch cable to the shackle and pull on it and see what would happen with a truck and 9k lb winch pulling if it would come up.

Kryptonite really outdid themselves with this product. It is very well engineered and built. The instructions are very well written and logical. I planned on renting a hammer drill from home depot, but opted for the fairly cheap $70 Ryobi D552HK. It did the job with ease, drilling each hole in a minute or two using the included masonry bits. This was a breeze to install and is SOLID. My scooter isn't going anywhere!

Having two cars in my garage I was forced to park my scooter outside under the overhang of the front door. You must have the right tools in install it. The bottom nut on one of the three bolts was defective but the manufacture sent me a new one at no cost and I finished the installation. I replaced the three screws on the top that holds the large black cover with stainless steel screws. The screws that came with the unit started to rust in a few days. It's a cleverly designed unit that if used with a very strong chain and lock will protect your property from theft. I bought the chain from TulsaChain.com See their video on the strength of their chains. It's very impressive.

Nice looking product, very sturdy and good for the price. It was bigger than I imagined (guess I didn't look at the dimensions) but that's not necessarily bad. Glad I made the purchase.
