This lock and chain would keep the thiefs busy for some time, It is heavy and bulky, but worth the peace of mind of knowing my investment is safe. The company "Seasonal Outfitters" is great to work with, it might be worth your while to deal directly with them, their prices seemed to better purchasing the product directly from them. And they have great customer service.
**Just a note to add that the posting for this lock shows a noose style chain and lock in the picture and the information has every indication that it is the NY chain and EV lock, which is 3'3" and the noose style is only 2'3". This caused me to have to return it. as of 10 April 09 there was a request to have this changed. Just thought it might keep some of you from having to deal with returning it for an exchange.

I ordered this without quite realizing just how much heft it had. When I bike to class or anywhere else, I pretty much have to stuff it in my backpack and deal with the extra weight. Add to that a laptop and a couple books though, and my backpack and body get a little strained.

However, it's something I knew going in, that it was a heavy lock made to endure pain and keep my bike safe short of thieves cutting off or deconstructing it. It has held up well, the lock is very easy to use, the chain does have a good amount of flexibility for the weight, and it can cover a good distance. So you can lock up to just about anything, and if confined enough, you could lock two bikes with this beast.

Overall I'm happy with the purchase. It does what it is supposed to do. The LED light on the primary key comes very much in handy - it feels like a nice little gift with the purchase.

Important disclaimer! I am not reviewing the item shown in the picture, which is a loop chain. I'm reviewing the non-loop version of the chain.

Excellent lock, excellent chain. The fabric sleeve that covers the chain is NOT Water resistant, meaning that the lettering flakes off after it gets wet. This is strictly a cosmetic issue, your bike is still safe, just covered in little white flakes till they get finished peeling off.

Otherwise a fine purchase. Yes, if you've got an expensive bike, I'd recommend this chain. Please be aware, it is quite heavy (about 8-9 lbs.)
