This book attempts to paint the Ku Klux Klan in a favorable hue. By highlighting possible motivations (as opposed to outcomes) Ku Klux Klan Its Origin, Growth and Disbandment tries to reason with readers as to why this group was neccessary for its time. It is an excellent study in organizational tactics.Notable distinction: This book lists Albert Pike, author of "Morals and Dogma", as a high ranking member.

Here we find a fairly objective discussion of the growth and history of the Klan. It did not start out as brutal but rather a reaction to brutality. But as with so many groups in a defensive mode, the movement because discredited nearly everywhere because of over reaching and over reacting to a situation that originally gave birth to the group.

I purchased this book on my kindle. I was not able to see/read any of the pictures attachments, or see/read any of the references. Not sure why. Also a lot of repetitious writing, not much history spoken of. Mediocre at best. Did not learn much about the history of the KKK in that book.

You hear so much misinformation about the Klan...this book gives you history of the times, beginning of the Klan, what it hoped to achieve, and why it was shut down. Honorable men in tough times coming together to protect them selves and their neighbors. Apparently there were three KKK groups formed over time and the ruthlessness of the 2nd and 3rd groups over shadow the KKK of 1865-1869 KKK. This book showed the organization of the KKK and it was much more organized than I thought. Many of the horror stories of the KKK were groups of men dressed as KKK members but were not members. The horrors they inflcted upon citizens were blamed on the Klan...and the rumors spread based on false assumptions. I am so glad I read this book and wish schools would require students to read this so they can see both sides of the story.
